Overall purpose of role

We are looking for a high quality candidate to join the IB MO function. The role requires someone with extensive business knowledge, analytical and relationship skills, strategic mindset and programme management discipline to help drive the build-out of the function as well as support the broader department and organisation objectives.

This is a challenging role requiring the successful individual to partner, coordinate and drives progress across global teams and different business areas as well as partner closely with key stakeholders and colleagues around the firm.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strong communication skills and ability to forge relationships with clients, Front Office and various internal Ops teams including Business Management, Sales, Trading, Trade Capture, Trading Assistants etc.
  • Motivate team members and achieve challenging targets.
  • Perform EOD controls reporting global handover reports of outstanding trade exceptions to global stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage exceptions for trade flow / trade representation for daily trading activity.
  • A systems-based approach, understanding workflow diagrams and decision trees. This forms part of our day-to-day in resolving issues with structures.
  • Collaborate with global counterparts and different stakeholders to drive opportunities for process development and improvements.
  • Decision-making and Problem Solving

    The candidate should actively try to problem-solve and propose solutions in order to work with IBMO Leads and global / regional peers to discuss and roll out.

    A positive can-do attitude is a must for this roll, promoting positive attitude amongst the team and leading by example.

    Risk and Control Objective

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of the operational front to back procedures that support your specific function and products.
  • Person Specification

    The Candidate must lead by example. Whether BAU or ad-hoc, the Candidate must not shy away from taking the lead in tackling issues.

    The Candidate cannot stand by and let others take responsibility on issues that has a risk impact and also impacts the IBMO brand.

    By constantly leading by example, the Candidate should have the respect of the team as well as management and peers. The Candidate must have a strong work ethics

  • Essential :
  • Working experience within flow derivatives or a comparable working environment, exotics equity derivatives product knowledge and experience is beneficial.
  • Good knowledge of the front-to-back process in an environment of investment banking in order to effect process enhancements
  • Good understanding of operational risks, ability to spot and articulate issues to senior stakeholders, and escalate in a timely manner
  • Proven ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels including interacting effectively with other key areas within the bank e.
  • g. Technology, broader global Middle office and front office stakeholders and Ops Control.

  • Good people management skills with experience of handling a team.
  • Manage and able to negotiate through difficult situations.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS office Suite, specifically Excel. Knowledge of Vlookups and Pivot tables is essential; Macro’s and VBA knowledge would be beneficial.
  • Key systems : Sophis, MPT, ATLAS, Delta 1, Bloomberg, Excel.
