About the F5 Platform Security Team :

The team provides services and support to F5 development teams in all phases of the Secure Development Lifecycle including Secure code review, Pen-testing, Threat modeling and analysis, best development practices training, security testing and certifications, vulnerability response, and Product certification.

Position Summary :

This position is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complete software components related to the security certifications like FIPS, and Common Criteria for the BIG-IP.

Designs develop and maintain high-quality code for complex security certification components. Requires little direct management to complete the majority of development tasks.

Responsibilities :

Design and implement major components of products.

Research, investigate and define new areas of technology to enhance existing products or new product directions

Evaluate the performance of products; tune, re-evaluate the design and implementation of current source code

Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents

May participate in the hiring and onboarding process

Collaborate with team members and technical leads

Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Solid knowledge and experience with network and relevant platform technologies

General OS background in several of security, reliability, system failure, and recovery, auditing / logging

7+ years of programming experience in C / C++ and system programming

7+ years of product development experience in embedded operating systems

Good understanding of FIPS and Common Criteria

Good understanding of Cryptography algorithms.

Understand OpenSSL and OpenSSH packages.

Should have a good understanding of Microservices architecture and container-based development.

Excellent analytic / troubleshooting and debugging skills

Successfully manage ambiguity in work.

Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications

Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment

Demonstrates emerging leadership qualities. Serves as the de facto lead in small group interaction.

Can design and implement new functionality in multiple feature areas, while developing subject matter expertise in at least one.

Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.

Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.


  • Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 5 years and a master’s degree;
