Purpose :

Reporting to the VP Manufacturing / CI, this role will provide a consistent and rapid LEAN deployment. Provide leadership for Regional CI initiatives, assesses current business performance, identify gaps, establish and implement improvement plans, monitor progress, and share / acquire best-in-class ideas and processes.

Manage complex CI projects requiring coordination between multiple CI teams, cross geographies, and / or that are cross transactional or manufacturing boundaries.

Lead large scale, multi-million-dollar impact with indirect supervision of multiple CI team members. Accountable for Regional Best Business Practice performance, acting as an integral part of the Regional Management Team.

Utilize CI to achieve and exceed business objectives and build plant confidence in the acceptance of change management and performance improvements while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and the quality of performance.

Collaborate extensively with other Regional CI professionals and the Global CI Support Team.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Consistent and rapid deployment of LEAN; facilitation, on-going training, influencing and change management for assigned region.
  • Support the development of CI professionals. Serve as problem solving SME and Six Sigma coach. Develop a Kaizen facilitator community, with appropriate capabilities in each site.
  • Mentor leaders, engineers, and shop floor supervisors to instill the discipline to drive a transition to a LEAN-thinking enterprise.

  • Regional lead practitioner, coach, teacher, trainer and consultant in developing, supporting and leading CI culture, cross-platform standardization, and Operational Excellence across Flowserve as required.
  • In collaboration with Regional counterparts, build and manage a project plan for CI projects, including resources, timeline, critical paths, etc.
  • Consult on projects regarding project direction, financial, and quality improvement opportunities and suitability as a Lean Six Sigma project.
  • Works with the Plant Leadership teams to perform gap assessments on the Plant's manufacturing system, create current and future state value stream maps, and develop LEAN improvement plans and schedules.

    Link process deficiencies directly to bottom line impact. Separate value stream from process to address waste.

  • Manage complex CI Projects that focus on elimination of the 7 forms of waste across global and regional boundaries. Lead cross-functional Manufacturing teams.
  • Leads cross-functional teams through kaizen events and the implementation of the LEAN toolset.

  • Provide LEAN manufacturing expertise to plant teams extending through development of global best practices in collaboration with regional counterparts.
  • Monitor LEAN & Six Sigma projects for cross-collaboration opportunities. Look for opportunities to recognize and publicize the accomplishments of assigned regional projects.
  • Support creation and distribution of CI metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Position Requirements

  • Technical or Business Bachelor Degree
  • Six Sigma Black Belt (Business CIL), Green Belt (VS CIL), or LEAN Certified
  • 8-10 years' experience of progressively more responsible operations experience in a manufacturing / plant environment
  • 7 Quality Tool Practitioner (fishbone, 5 Why’s / Ishikawa, Histograms, Control Charts, Pareto Analysis, Scatter Diagrams and Stratification)
  • Previous success leading projects and teams
  • The capacity to teach (or to learn to teach) others; be seen as approachable, helpful and supportive
  • A strong interest in process, and quality improvement and the ability to provide leadership
  • Ability to coach others and influence behavior
  • Able to demonstrate proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Preferences

  • 3 years+ industrial manufacturing experience
  • Industry or Business experience where LEAN or Operational Excellence is core to the business
