Department Profile

Global Banking Technology (GBT) is a dynamic and fast-paced area within the Firm?s WM Technology Division. We are responsible for creating innovative technology solutions for the Private Banking Group (PBG), one of the strategic growth areas of the Firm, providing cash management and lending products and services to our WM clients.

This includes state-of-the-art technology for a nationwide network of Private Bankers and product specialists who work with Financial Advisors to provide access to products and services such as online banking, cards, deposit products, residential mortgages, securities-based loans and tailored lending.

Position Description

The position will be responsible for the development of data pipelines and services, providing RegW exceptions to the users via web portal, data analysis, utilizing analysis tools such as OLAP using Python, Java and Angular.

The role will require the candidate to possess a strong understanding of services, data transformation, RESTful APIs and databases.

Responsibilities will also require in-depth knowledge of ELT concepts and hands-on experience in implementing data integrations in multiple database platforms using custom development, scripting language such as Unix Shell, and ETL tool such as Hive and PySpark.

Candidate must have strong SQL skills and should have experience developing data extracts and user reports.

To be successful, the role will require the individual to understand the banking technology landscape as well as be able to step into existing projects taking on a hands-on development role.

Responsibilities :

  • Design stable, scalable data pipelines, services and web applications.
  • Identify potential improvements to the current design / processes.
  • Plan and co-ordinate business related deliverables, enhancements and modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in multiple project discussions as a senior member of the team.
  • Serve as a coach / mentor for junior developers.
  • Work as part of an Agile Squad / Fleet.
  • Required Skills

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong Python scripting experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience Unix / Linux programming (shell and / or Perl).
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with building Data Pipelines in Data Lake platforms (Hive, PySpark).
  • Big Data experience using the Hadoop eco system for data storage and processing (e.g. : HDFS, Hadoop, Hive, Spark).
  • Strong SQL skills and database programming skills including creating views, stored procedures, triggers, implementing referential integrity, as well as designing and coding for performance.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of RDBMS systems (e.g. : Sybase, DB2, Teradata, or Oracle).
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of DevOps (CI / CD) practices (e.g. : Git, Jenkins, TeamCity).
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of Agile / Scrum practices.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA or other ALM tools to create a productive, high quality development environment.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Organization, discipline, detail-orientation, self-motivation, and focused on delivery.
  • Desired Skills

  • Experience in the financial / banking industry.
  • Experience in cloud platforms (e.g. : Azure).
  • Experience in Java Spring Boot and micro-service architecture.
  • Experience in web application development (e.g. REST API, Angular UI).
  • Experience in container based application development (e.g. Docker).

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
