Role Summary / Purpose

To be part of the digital team within SWTS in the Systems Engineering & Analytics CoE and contribute to the development of advanced analytics, digital-twins, asset health monitoring and optimization using either the physics or data-driven approaches or combination of both.

The position requires the candidate to have deep technical expertise and problem-solving skills. The candidate primarily works in applications related water / wastewater treatment or chemical process.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Developing and delivering optimal control algorithms for water and chemical plants using model predictive control, and reinforcement learning techniques.
  • Developing and delivering performance monitoring algorithms using data gathered from various sources and frequencies
  • Developing and delivering advanced analytics algorithms on cloud while being able to interpret and explain the results
  • Performance assessment of water treatment and chemical systems using first principles and data-driven techniques
  • Identify the root causes for deviations in performance of assets through necessary data analysis and simulation studies
  • Understand operating philosophy of customers, its impact on assets and propose means to improve asset performance
  • Participate and contribute to the development of novel technology in the application of AI / ML techniques to water treatment problems
  • Collaborate with global engineering, technology and commercial teams to conceptualize and develop novel digital solutions
  • Qualifications / Requirements

  • Ph.D or Masters in Chemical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering with machine learning training, or Computer Science, Machine Learning with chemical engineering training.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in analytics, monitoring solutions or controls
  • Proficiency in developing steady state and dynamic process models, estimation theory, multivariate statistics, process optimization, deep reinforcement learning and various AIML techniques.
  • Prior experience in developing engineering software tools / systems
  • Knowledge of IT systems architecture and cloud applications
  • Ability to understand requirements and drive technology development
  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills, step-by-step approach towards solving complex problems.
  • Excellent technical communication skills
  • Desired Skills

  • Experience in Python & AWS Services with excellent programming skills
  • Experience in at least 1 area comprising water treatment, physic-chemical models, or solution thermodynamics and at least 1 area comprising deep learning, deep reinforcement learning, transfer learning, or computer vision.
