Job Summary : The purpose of this position is development and deployment of the category strategy for Electrical Americas tail spend & middle spend suppliers to drive optimal cost and conditions (commercial, quality, delivery).

Manage tail & middle spend of approximately $1Bn spend. Develop, deploy, and manage all related contracts. Drive all defined and required steps and actions in order to fulfill requirements of the supplier management process.

Collaborate with other functions (operations, quality, logistics, engineering) for resourcing and rationalization.This position will play a lead role in coordinating and execution of Tail & Middle Spend Management startegy for ES America mechanical commodity & components with the Global Category Managers and business units for Direct materials.

Job Responsibilities :

1. Develop, plan, monitor and execute direct material cost out projects for Tail & Middle Spend suppliers utilizing the Eaton Standard Sourcing Process.

The projects will provide NET 4.5% savings to achieve SCM objectives.

2. Integral part of team (IDB) on developing global category strategy & execute the strategy to effectively leverage Eaton’s global spend in conjunction with the Global Category Manager to deliver cost benefits.

3. Ensure category strategies are aligned with latest internal and external environmental, market and economic factors. Build and maintain organizational consensus and alignment to the category strategy.

4. Negotiate and manage key strategic supplier agreements, cost negotiations and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

5. Manage the supplier quality interface (APQP) to ensure that PPAP requirements are understood and met, including assisting in issue resolution for components identified as high risk.

Interface with suppliers, product engineering, and the Eaton plant to drive on-time project completion. Work projects through ramp up and successful launch.

6. Collaborate with Engineering on part rationalization opportunities.

7. Responsible to maintain supply continuity via risk identification and mitigation.

8. Work with internal teams including but not limited to ESSP, Should Cost, Project Management, TCO, Risk and Compliance team to achieve enterprise SCM goal.

9. Develop strong positive ethical relationships with suppliers & adhere to Eaton’s Code of Conduct.

10. Work with category managers to establish and execute category strategy for tail & middle spend suppliers / parts.

11. Ensure program milestones are met as mutually established by the customer and GSCM COE

12. Coordinate the exchange of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards for confidentiality in compliance with Eaton Data Management policies.

13.Lead governance review meetings on behalf on GSCM COE for respective categories. Single point of contact for assigned category for GSCM COE for Category Leaders.

14.Lead a team of 10+ members and Building Organizational Capability through Learning & Development and Talent Management, hiring as when needed, gap assessment with existing team members and developing team’s functionals skills and competencies to meet business requirements such as executing the global category strategy for middle and tail spend suppliers.

15. Enable the team to Own and drive Business Impact goals such as Cost Out Opportunities and Supplier rationalization. 16.

Handle team dynamics by keeping the team motivated & connected; Fair performance evaluation through Strong feedback mechanism.

Identify and deploy right training and upskilling measures for the team. 17. Good understanding of mechanical commodities like ferrous & non-ferrous metals & categories like fabrication,forgings,castings,fasteners,machined components,bearings etc.

Qualifications

Should be Graduate with Master’s degree (Preferably into Mechanical / Production / Operations Management) Engineering Graduate preferred.

MBA / PGDBM in SCM / Operations Management.CPSM preferred.

Minimum 10-12 years’ of experience as a commodity specialist for one of the commodities (Casting, Forging,Fabricated parts, Electrical & Electronic Components, Stampings, Metals-Ferrous / Non Ferrous)

Commodity experience of supplier development & category strategy

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio & Project)
  • Ability to communicate clearly & effectively in person , via e-mail and over phone
  • Proficient in the development and tracking of internal metrics
  • Strong project and time management, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from associates to the leadership team.
  • Quick response to deadlines
  • Data Analytics- Ability to identify opportunities driving economic value based on data analysis
