P. Morgan’s privateclients a diverse array of attractive alternative investment opportunities.The team looks broadly across private equity,real estate and hedge funds, and since inception in 1992, has brought over 250investment opportunities to J.

P. Morgan’s private clients, endowments andfoundations.With over $110 billion ofclient capital, the team brings a unique perspective and best in class approachto sourcing, structuring, developing, offering, and managing alternativeinvestment opportunities and products.

JobDescription :

This jobwill require working in a team and partnering with the NY-based AlternativesFund Controller team positioned in the Private Bank’s Wealth Management Financeand Business Management group.

The individual will participate in a teamof professionals responsible for the accounting and financial reporting,cash and expense management, regulatory compliance and governance for thePrivate Bank’s proprietary alternative funds, which includes over 200 privateequity funds, private equity fund of funds, hedge fund of funds, and multiasset funds totaling over $50Bn in AUM.

SpecificResponsibilities :

  • Providesubject matter expertise to the team to ensure smooth functioning of team, ofwhich the primary responsibilities include but aren’t limited to the following :
  • Onboardingof new funds through the review of fund offering materials, fund bank accountopening, setup with the fund administrators, and preparation of fund budgets.
  • Reviewand sign off of fund fund NAV packages, associated financials and investorallocations, cash management, and review of unaudited / audited financialstatements.
  • Overseeand direct the preparation of, and sign off on, fund capital event letters(capital calls and distributions).
  • Reviewof quarterly performance reports for the private equity fund of funds.
  • Reviewand process subscriptions and redemptions for hedge funds and multi-assetfunds.
  • Directlyengage with the Alternatives Fund Controller team and our third party fundadministrators on a day-to-day basis to discuss deliverables, accountingissues, and work through reporting and valuation.
  • Prepareand review regulatory filings or data used for regulatory reporting.
  • Participationin the monitoring of our third party service providers, and preparation ofboard meeting materials.
  • Participationin other special projects and strategic initiatives led by the Fund Controllersteam.
  • Theposition will entail significant interaction and coordination with third partyfund administrators, independent auditors, depositaries, and tax preparers toensure that the funds’ day-to-day financial operations run smoothly
  • Requirements :

  • CPA / CA preferred
  • 8-9+ years of fund accounting experience for Private Equity and / or Hedge Funds
  • Partnership accounting (capital or unitized) experience required
  • Strong practical understanding of private equity and hedge fund mechanics
  • Financial statement preparation and / or review experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead by example and ability to think outside-of-the-box to address complex issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills with the ability to set clear priorities, delegate and deployment of team resources.
  • Exceptional consensus building and influence skills, possesses the ability to achieve a common understanding and agreement across groups with differing perspectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - demonstrated track record of successful presentation in senior management forums.
  • Strong problem solving skills, detail oriented with the ability to understand multiple perspectives, identify and negotiate solutions across the organization.
