Multi Technology DBA enabling the development lifecycle across IHS Markit's diverse database estate.A challenging role that provides exposure to the finance industry, IT Information Library (ITIL), Real Application Clusters, Automatic Storage Management, Enterprise Manager, and Recovery Manager.
The predominant database is Oracle Enterprise Edition 12CR1
You will be a vital part of a dynamic and experienced DBA team sharing support, ideas, and experience across the globe.The team provide 24 / 7 support for Oracle, MongoDB and PostgreSQL and this is expected to expand.
It does NOT include SQL Server.
As a member of Database Services, you will have the opportunity to improve IHS Markit’s database release processes, define new standards, and have an active role in shaping the services provided by the team.
Duties & accountabilities
Execute Change releases
Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, and standalone database deployments
Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Database patching and upgrades
Perform proactive checks on production servers
Support development lifecycle through backup / restore operations
Resource capacity planning (CPU, memory, IO, storage)
Provide production support to IHS Markit’s critical Oracle database applications
Support of MongoD and PostGres databases
12CR1 Oracle Database and Grid Infrastructure experience
Solid SQL & PL / SQL scripting
Oracle upgrade experience
Oracle Recovery Manager (backup and restore) experience
Oracle Data Guard (Broker and non-Broker)
Linux shell scripting
Microsoft and Linux O / S proficiency
Oracle user provisioning and management
Self-starter who can work with little supervision
Education and experience
University graduate or equivalent, preferably in a computing degree
2-4 years experience as an Oracle DBA
Experience with global teams and being managed remotely
Past experience liaising with business and development groups
Oracle OCA certification preferable
Previous adherence to change control policies
Experience in a company with agreed Service Level Agreements to internal business units or external clients
No prior management experience necessary as no management in the role
