Team : The Sustainable Corporate Solutions (SCS) team is a rapid growth business responsible for developing and bringing ESG products to multi-national corporations and financial institutions.

Our services include green / social / sustainability bond second-party opinions, annual compliance reviews, and other services that help our clients to provide sustainability insights to investors and lenders.

This successful new business is continually surpassing sales forecasts and has been recognized as the largest external reviewer of green bonds by Environmental Finance and the Climate Bonds Initiative for several consecutive years.

Role : The Taxonomy Associate will contribute to the growth and development of the SCS’s internal taxonomy of eligible activities / assets for green, social, and sustainable bonds, as well as technical guidance for the assessment of sustainability-linked debt instruments.

Given the rapid growth and sophistication of the sustainable bond market, taxonomies play a critical role in supporting the credibility and consistency of the use of proceeds.

The SCS taxonomy is a living document leveraging the insights and expertise gained by reviewing over 350 sustainability bond frameworks while responding to timely industry initiatives, namely the EU Taxonomy and other regional variations.

  • Key elements of this new role will include delving into complex technical activities and KPIs for green / social bonds and sustainability-linked instruments;
  • providing on-demand support to the Mumbai-based second-party opinions (SPO) team regarding project-related queries, and researching a number of environmental and social thematic areas to support and maintain the existing SCS taxonomy.

    The taxonomy must remain robust, well documented, managed / updated in a systematic and timely manner (responding to market and technical developments), and well-supported in its application.

    While the primary focus of the role will be on supporting the SPO team and developing the SCS taxonomy, the Associate may also be called upon to support other customized projects on the Corporate Solutions team as needed.

    Responsibilities :

  • Provide on-demand support to the Mumbai-based second-party opinions (SPO) team regarding project-related queries;
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the SCS taxonomy to ensure that it remains up to date and aligned with market expectations and relevant international standards as they develop;
  • Support the improvement of guidance and training on the taxonomy;
  • Research a variety of business activities across various sectors, analyzing their impacts in relation to use-of-proceeds and KPIs for bonds;
  • Support the SCS Commercial Team in an efficient and timely manner in qualifying the bond frameworks of prospective issuer clients;
  • Develop expertise in sustainable debt financing, including current and emerging trends, issues, drivers, risks and opportunities, key players, best practices, the regulatory landscape, etc.;
  • Develop sustainability knowledge and expertise across a variety of themes and sectors and prepare well-written and high-quality research; and
  • Liaise with and develop relationships with colleagues across global teams and offices.
  • Qualifications :

  • Excellent English business writing skills;
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret data / information, while maintaining a critical approach;
  • Passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance;
  • 3 / 4 years of related work experience;
  • Degree in related discipline (business, sustainability and / or engineering);
  • Technical expertise related to energy and or manufacturing is an asset;
  • Client-centric and commercial approach;
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills;
  • Positive attitude, innovative and entrepreneurial.
