Key Accountabilities & Deliverables :
Execute & deliver original analysis and insights and own all or part of climate hazard module
Provide professional skills necessary for data analysis, including the application of standard statistical methods for conducting analysis, QA / QC, documentation and presentation.
Communicates analytical insights through sophisticated synthesis and packaging of results (Including PPT slides and charts)
Establishes credibility by thought partnering on analytics topics; takes positions and draws conclusions on a range of external and internal issues
Serve as an active participant on cross-functional projects, interpreting data, and translating into actionable insights, provide support on ad-
hoc analysis and reports.
Experience Required :
PhD or MSc (Physics / Meteorology / Atmospheric Science / Oceanography / Statistics) OR MTech (Atmospheric Science / Climate Science) with first class from reputed institutes / universities.
Around 2 years of total experience on dynamics and physical processes of climate interactions at various scales, Tropical Meteorology focusing Asian / Indian Monsoon dynamics, understanding of regional / coastal air-
sea interactions and knowledge of IPCC / CORDEX models.
Should have one or two years of experience in handling climate model / remote sensing / satellite datasets in different format under Linux environment, some experience in high performance computer (HPC) will be considered as an extra advantage.
Knowledge of analysis techniques like statistical methodology, data manipulation.
Critical thinking skills and hands on experience in data interpretation, formulating hypotheses and being able to make educated guesses when data may be sparse or unavailable.
Strong documentation skills with experience of working on MS Word, Excel (advanced knowledge such as using pivots, filters, using external data etc.
PowerPoint and Project.
Excellent communication skills and ability to independently lead and drive projects.
Technical Skills :
Running Climate / Ocean Models (global and regional) in HPC.
Windows and programming in Linux environment.
Must have good knowledge in R, MATLAB, GIS, Excel and Fortran(90 / 95).
Experience in manipulation of NETCDF / HDF data, NCO, CDO.
Experience in handling remote sensing data on various spatial and temporal scales.
Basics of Shell, SQL / RDBMS, NCL, Grads and Ferret.
Knowledge of Parallel computing (MPI) and High Performance Computing.
Handling various climate data (observations and reanalysis).
Working knowledge of Property & Causality insurance or reinsurance sector and Risk Assessment Analysis would be advantageous.
Knowledge of catastrophe modeling domain would also be advantageous.
