The TechnicalLead works in a fully managed enterprise database infrastructure environment toprovide high-performing, secure, scalable, and highly available databasesystems.
The Technical Lead will provide supervisory and technical guidance toa team of database administrators responsible for hands-on day-to-day technicalsupport for Oracle database, Oracle eBusiness Suite, and MS SQL Server systems.
The scope of this position includes support for environments that are missioncritical to the Emerson business units. Global support and 24x7 coverage is required for most database systemsunder the team’s purview.
In addition to leading a team of databaseadministrators, the team under the Technical Lead will be responsible foradministration, reporting, uptime, performance, security, patching andtroubleshooting.
Provide daily operational support for the application and database systems assigned, including but not limited to, monitoring, maintaining, upgrading, patching, tuning, implementing data and database security controls, installation, and administering.
Implement the organization’s goals and objectives
Manage and provide direction to a team of experienced employees on technical and operational situations. Mentor database administrators to ensure collaboration, adherence to standards and compliance requirements, proper usage and auditing of standard operating procedures, and developing a continuous improvement mentality.
Developing automation and adopt lean concepts for improved service delivery,
Manage team work schedules and staff rotation, ensuring proper coverage
Collaborate with peers to ensure knowledge sharing, leveraging lessons learned, and growing team skills
Has accountability for team’s responsibilities and execution of those responsibilities.
Guide team in working with users to troubleshoot and solve operational issues.
Responsible for coordinating recovery in the event of system failure.
Plan and execute maintenance activities, ensuring recoverability in the event of a failure.
Provide tuning, troubleshooting and analysis, both proactively and reactively. Proactive analysis should prevent issues from arising and causing instability in systems or their performance.
Monitor system logs, activity and performance on all supported systems daily. Provide operational performance reports.
Meet at least monthly with each direct report, supporting the team member’s growth. Address performance concerns as they occur, documenting the actions and outcomes discussed with the team member.
Perform disaster recovery tests
Interact with the database engineers to adopt new or changed technology and facilitate the training of team, as necessary, ensuring operational excellence in delivering the technologies
Since 24x7 coverage is required, the Technical Lead may need to participate in shift work or an On Call schedule when staffing of team members is not sufficient

EDUCATION / LANGUAGE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated discipline plus 5 years related experience.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience required
3+ years of experience with Oracle datasbase administration, support, and installation required
3+ years of experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite v11.5 or higher required
1+ years managing databases in Solaris or Linux required
Experience with MS SQL Server database 2012 or higher desired
Experience with Oracle RAC in a large enterprise preferred
Experience with Oracle ASM for disk storage preferred
3+ years of experience with Oracle database 11g or higher required
Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g or higher, including useof Oracle Applications Manager and other important management packs preferred
