This position would be part of Strategy & Operations Team within Centeralized Investment Compliance Group and provide necessary assistance to Global Investment Compliance (IC) Function from Hyderabad office.

The Principal Business Analyst would manage interface between Investment Compliance, Data office, Technology and Securities Data teams.

  • She / He would be responsible for creating business requirements by analyzing business processes and related systems; assisting development team to design solutions that meet business needs;
  • and conducting quality assurance tasks to make sure client’s expectations are met. The Principal Business Analyst will be working with a variety of business applications including developed as well as vendor systems.


    Responsible for planning, executing and monitoring the activities that are necessary to complete a business analysis effort

    Liaise between Compliance, Data office, Tech and Securities Data teams to provide deliverable across the Investment lifecycle with various Compliance systems

    Elicit requirements from business stakeholder and perform root cause analysis

    Extract and analyse data utilizing SQL queries

    Assist in project planning and scoping activities along with prioritizing requirements

    To document complete and accurate business models across affected areas including front-to-back (F2B) flows reflecting process, data and organization

    Represent Compliance as a key stakeholder in global projects

    To configure the Charles River front end as per user specification. Configuration responsibilities include blotters, workflow monitors, user provisioning, user and group profiles, stored queries, layouts and reference data

    To analyze data in Charles River and know how that data is represented in the database for orders, positions, compliance rules etc.

    To perform data analysis by having the ability to query databases via SQL

    To document complete and accurate detailed requirements, use case models and performance specifications

    To support QA and UAT testing as necessary

    To support issues resolution for production and lower environments as necessary

    To actively manage and update analysis artefacts

    Perform troubleshooting analysis and resolution of critical applications and tech batch processes

    Coordinate and participate in testing for in-house and vendor developed software applications

    Work closely with team members in Compliance, Tech and other teams (located locally and / or Ex India) to gather requirements, document used cases, and develop & deliver solutions that automate daily work

    Create narratives / desk procedures for in-scope processes

    Maintain continuous communication and documentation of requirements received and progress made

    Operates in coordination with rest of the Strategy & Operations Team


    Work primarily with EMEA Region i.e. 1 : 30pm to 10 : 30pm IST however this could change as per business requirements.


    8-10 years experience working in an Information Technology environment as a business analyst

    Should possess in-depth Investment Management industry (buy side firms preferred) knowledge including Investment Compliance, Portfolio Management, Trading and Operations

    Experience with regulatory environments such as SFDR (ESG), SFC, FCA, SEC and UCITS will be added advantage

    Process analysis and identification of improvements.

    Supporting OMS upgrades and / or conversions from one OMS to another.

    Creating and executing queries Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle DMBS.

    Familiarity with the various project management roles defined by the Agile methodology

    Order Management Systems (OMS); Charles River preferred

    Formalized software development methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall utilising tools such as Jira and Rally.

    Developing and executing project plans and test cases.

    Working knowledge of the asset management industry.

    Fundamental understanding of the principals of rule coding, pre- and post-trade compliance


    Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced demanding work environment

    A self-starter mentality with a strong work ethic and the ability to work well independently

    Superior interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact and communicate with other team members, senior leaders and clients

    A strong investment management with equities and ideally fixed income experience is required and if the candidate has exposure to global markets (North America, Asia & Europe) it would be preferred

    Successful candidates will have the ability to understand business issues and how they are represented at the process, systems and data level

    Excellent verbal communication and inter-personal skills

    Excellent SQL skills and can conduct data analysis independently

    Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving

    Strong attention to detail

    Management / execution of multiple initiatives concurrently with aggressive timelines and strong dependencies

    Clear understanding of Project Management Life Cycle is required

    Good communication skills (both written and verbal) and a high degree of credibility are imperative

    The ability to operate at all levels within the organization and to explain the business both a conceptual and business process level

    Demonstrably strong motivation for improvement / process optimization, innovative thinking and an enthusiastic approach work with established business personnel

    FORMAL EDUCATION : (minimum requirement to perform job duties)

    Masters degree in finance / engineering / etc. with strong knowledge of SQL


    Work may be performed flexibly at home or in the office under an agreed upon Hybrid working arrangement.
