In this role, you have the opportunity to

Manage high impact, complex sustaining & transfer projects that enables Philips to reduce risk, improve profitability, align with Philips’ strategic supply base and optimize supply chain flexibility.

The primary function within this role is to execute engineering activities through the course of fast-paced, high quality transfer and sustaining projects.

You will be responsible for driving meaningful and innovative product development, generating ideas / concepts in feature development to improve quality and reduce cost, as well as performing the role of a technical lead in taking the product development through manufacturing release while transferring products between suppliers and manage sustaining of different devices by following PDLM-MLD process.

use your engineering expertise to model, design and implement some of the world’s most innovative medical products. Your contribution can range from early customer contacts, project definition and concept creation to Mechatronics Design of new products, or modifications to existing products.

You are responsible for

  • The mechatronic solutions in major projects, which have a mid- to long-term character, are complex, and can be divided in several sub-projects for the creation of subsystems.
  • This also requires involvement in software and electronic hardware designs.

  • Using your skills, inventiveness and curiosity to combine novel technology with user insight to lead the team in designing parts and assemblies for new medical innovations.
  • Making principle choices for the product designs, subsystems and interfaces.
  • The overall manufacturability, interfacing and introduction of new technology and methods in manufacturing sites.
  • Leading internal and external design sub-teams.
  • Working closely with the commercial department to truly understand the customer’s technologic challenges i.o to offer projects, tailored services & technical support.

    To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • MSc or PhD degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering
  • 10 years of professional experience in mechanical product, medical field preferred
  • Experience with mechatronic precision equipment development preferred
  • Experience with digitalization of development; methods, tools and global collaboration
  • Interested to apply Model Based System Engineering, AI and Machine Learning in the Mechatronics context
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably Creo (Pro-ENGINEER) or NX Unigraphics
  • Special emphasis on a demonstrated Mechatronics background in combining mechanical with system engineering, precision tooling, fibre optics / routing and electronic packaging.
  • Robust knowledge of design controls and risk management standards.
  • Broad technical knowledge and experience with bringing medical products to the market, preferably experience with development of medical products (IEC 60601) and healthcare regulatory aspects (ISO13485, FDA)
  • Experience in mentoring of designers or design teams
  • Experience in translating customer needs into technical requirements and clearly defining the complete mechatronic needs to project members
  • Good understanding of testing critical to quality and regulatory requirements
  • Mature skills in prioritizing, requirement clarification, and development effort estimation
  • Proven leadership skills, acting as lead engineer, performing work breakdown / divide work & delegation / (final) review.
