Manager - Benchmarking

As a senior member of the DA Benchmarking team, the candidate will be expected to lead a team of 10+ highly qualified professionals supporting DA practitioners across KPMG member firms such as the US, Nordics, Germany, ASPAC, etc.

This position reports into the DA Benchmarking Capability Leader.

Strategy

Work closely with the DA Benchmarking Capability Leader to develop a Point of View around taking the capability to the next level in terms of identifying trends, innovations driving these trends, and translating these to develop new benchmarking solutions and operating models.

Work with other deal advisory, strategy teams, due diligence and research teams to provide deep business analytics and integrate findings into product deliverables

Increased the DA Benchmarking team visibility across the KPMG member firm network by proactively connecting with internal DA practitioners.

Work closely with technology development team based in the US to develop new analytical tools or enhance capabilities of current tools to increase productivity and analytical insights

Team Management

Build a high performance culture - build a team of highly motivated and inspired team members delivering insightful work products, and adding value to DA practitioners through service innovation.

Guide and mentor junior members to help them develop as well rounded professionals.

Proactively identify and manage people and team issues by maintaining an excellent connect with team members across all levels

Manage staff to provide real time feedback and guidance to engagement teams onshore to help ensure timely and efficient product delivery

Client / Stakeholder Management

Manage contact with engagement teams onshore to assist in designing better reports, with focus on client needs by segment, service line and geography

Actively build and manage relationships and interface with international DA professionals.

Lead business development meetings / conference calls.

Operations Management

Drive the team's operations (staffing, MI, recruitment, etc.) and key initiatives (such as sector framework, training, BD collaterals, etc.)

Set standards for quality control; measure and report performance against those standards suggesting improvement areas

Drive process improvements (technology-enabled, or otherwise) that enhance team productivity, improved utilization and reduce turnaround time

Manage the improvement of various processes around Global Knowledge Management, Learning & Development and Thought Leadership.

Essential skills required

Project and Team Management Exposure

Strong and proven leadership skills with competent people and team management skills. Credible record of operating at a team management level with experience of handling at team size of 10-12 people.

Manage performance, coach and train junior team members on analyzing financial performance of companies and correlate them with the broader macro / micro economic and market trends

Manage staff to provide real time feedback and guidance to engagement teams onshore to help ensure timely and efficient product delivery

Manage contact with engagement teams onshore to assist in designing better reports, with focus on client needs by segment, service line and geography

Set standards for quality control; measure and report performance against those standards suggesting improvement areas

Drive process improvements (technology-enabled, or otherwise) that enhance team productivity, improved utilization and reduce turnaround time

Technical Skills

High problem solving skills; ability to drive through to an outcome in circumstances of complexity and ambiguity.

Strong understanding of finance fundamentals - income statement, balance sheet, cash flows, financial ratios

Analyze target company data to identify historical and projected financial and operating trends, quality of earnings and working capital considerations, and potential liabilities and risks which impact valuation and negotiation of the target company

Uncover insights quickly and accurately by collecting, processing and analyzing raw data obtained from a target and internal clients to give transaction and strategic deliverables a boost

Experience in developing advance analytics tools to assist financial analysis

Strong current knowledge in one of the following : United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Securities and Exchange Commission financial reporting issues, International Financial Reporting Standards , mergers and acquisitions, or transaction services

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel skills including, pivot tables, and macros including database systems, research, accounting analysis, financial ratios and financial tools

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and analytics-driven findings to business people including clients and / or senior leaders of the firm, and to explain business processes, concepts, challenges, and issues to technical resources

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college / university in Accounting, Finance, Economics is preferred; MBA from an accredited college / university is preferred;
  • licensed CPA / CA / equivalent certification is preferred

    8-11 years of experience in public accounting, advisory, financial audit, mergers & acquisitions, transaction services or strategy consulting experience along with strong industry knowledge

    Experience in project management including : planning, organizing, coordinating and managing staff, clients and / or partners towards the successful completion of a project
