Building the Finance function and working with some of the finest people has been a fantastic experience. It's few organisations that allow for such meaningful and challenging opportunities!

The local and home services industry is very fragmented and unorganized. Prior to UrbanCompany, hiring a plumber, beautician, yoga trainer, math tutor etc.

was a painful process. There were no standards, no concept of trust, pricing inefficiencies etc. In a nutshell, the industry was shackled in the yellow pages era, and had seen no fundamental innovation for far too long.

The UrbanCompany team is young and passionate, and we see a massive disruption opportunity in his industry. By leveraging technology, and a set of simple yet powerful processes, we wish to build a platform that can organize the world of services - and bring them to your finger-tips.

We believe there is immense value (akin to serendipity) in bringing together customers and professionals looking for each other.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build a talent acquisition strategy with leaders of each of the function of the non-tech businesses to ensure that the talent intake is of constant bar raisers and business needs are always met
  • Drive adoption of the system and ensure complete centralization of data
  • Constantly work on driving candidate experience and hiring experience and work towards taking up the NPS (net promoter score)
  • Build a team of bar-raising recruiters and coach them on the global best recruiting practices
  • Be a core part of the talent brand building team and work towards building Urban Company into one of the most aspirational employer brands
  • Plan employee referral programs. Encourage employees to be brand ambassadors. Come up with new ideas for the same
  • Responsible for identifying and mapping the external talent pool towards critical positions within the organization and create a strong succession planning pool Attend career and college fairs, and similar events
  • Job Requirements

  • 8-10 years of recruiting experience across multi-nationals AND 3+ years of experience in a high growth Ops based start-ups.
  • You should have experience in managing a large and diverse team, hiring across all levels, as well as campus and niche roles.
  • Experience in campus recruitment, employer branding and recruitment strategies is critical
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    The company's vision is to empower millions of service professionals across the world to deliver services at home like never seen before.

    Prior to joining Urban Company, most professionals, be it plumbers, beauticians, carpenters etc., typically earn INR 10-20k per month, working for a local shop, contractor or as a freelancer.

    The Urban Company platform enables these professionals to become micro-entrepreneurs through 5 key interventions :

    Training and certification : Training programs backed by a Government of India certificate rendered through 100+ classroom training centers

    Financial services : Opening of bank accounts, access to loans, insurance solutions around life, accidental and health etc.

    Products & tools procurement : Home delivery of consumables and tools needed for the service delivery such as cosmetics, cleaning supplies etc.

    Technology led standardization : Standardizing the service - creating SKUs, fixed and transparent pricing, clear service deliverables, defined SOPs, delivery tracking, payment systems, reviews etc.

    Market access & branding : Working as an individual franchisee of Urban Company

    This helps service professionals become more organized and multiplies their earnings. The professionals typically earn INR 30 to 50k per month with no upper ceiling (Many earn >

    INR 80-100k per month), while compared to INR 10 to 20k per month in their previous jobs.
