Desired Job Profile About the Role :

  • quality data on our programming and impact for which we seek a Director of Measurement to design and run this system.

  • The position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible to independently manage the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) function in the organization and implement a results based M&E framework.
  • As the head of the Impact division in the organization, the position is supported by a team of about 50 staff members across office locations in Mumbai, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead the review of the existing M&E framework and design a modified framework that is responsive to current programming and serves as an effective input to programme expansion needs
  • Ensure that the programme MIS is appropriately modified to respond to the M&E framework and utilises input and output formats that are user-
  • friendly and responsive to needs across levels of the organisation team

  • Work closely with the Development team to support donor engagement & management
  • Ensure requisite rigor based on globally accepted methodology, in research design, data collection and analysis to improve evaluation processes and to ensure that results are unbiased and acceptable within and external to the organisation Implementation
  • Develop adequately informed research and monitoring briefs in consultation with programme staff as a formative input for design of monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Lead in finalising research design and development of research and monitoring tools including design of monitoring tools that are responsive to users from the programme team who may not have a specialisation in M&E
  • Ensure requisite coordination is done by the Impact team with the programme management team at the national, state and district level to facilitate smooth implementation of M&E activities implemented in the organisation
  • Manage secondary research on an ongoing basis including identifying relevant sources of data in India and overseas and conducting content analysis to render information as useful formative input for programmatic decisions
  • Provide evidence-based strategic and operational inputs to the programme team based on analysis of quantitative and qualitative data emerging from M&E activities
  • Design and maintain a dashboard of programme monitoring data and status on key evaluation parameters to inform the programme team on a periodic and contingent basis
  • Concurrently identify potential external collaborators to create a pool of external partners as may be required to support M&E activities at the national, state, district and sub-district level
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders for M&E related aspects including external research agencies, data collection entities, M&E experts, academic & research institutions, donor entities and government agencies
  • Develop M&E outputs into user-friendly formats for routine reports and inclusion in programme related publications or presentations within and external to the organisation team
  • Maintain budgetary tracks for the M&E activities including assessing or anticipating variances and ensuring requisite measures are adopted to ensure cost effective implementation
  • Qualifications

  • Masters or doctoral degree in Social Sciences
  • Minimum Experience

  • Experience conducting rigorous applied social science research and sectoral expertise in education, with practical experience of working in areas related to education and research
  • 8 - 15 years of relevant work experience preferably in the educational research sector.
  • Experience of independently handling projects related to programme monitoring & evaluation
  • Skills

  • Strong analytical skills, documentation skills and a sound understanding of qualitative and quantitative research techniques including causal inference and statistical inference
  • Well versed with any statistical software such as R or Stata
  • Exposure of managing or participating in operations research including Randomized Control Trial and other rigorous experimental and quasi-
  • experimental methodologies.

  • People management skills with past experience of managing diverse teams, Problem Solving skills with a solution oriented focus, Excellent communication skills both oral & written
