Preferred Qualifications

Work with a world-class team to provide Oracle Database Administration support for customer production systems in the Oracle Cloud, with the opportunity to work on the latest Oracle database releases and features as part of the cloud-first strategy.

Provide DBA operational support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to customer problems to ensure customer success.

Be a motivated, team player with the ability to work cross-functionally with a can-do and do-it-right attitude, a self-starter, and constantly thinking of ways to improve the work.

Comfortable leading a team technically, providing direction and mentorship; or acting as an individual contributor. 7+ years of experience supporting relational databases as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Oracle Database and related tools.

Experience with an organization with a key 24 X 7 reliance on its databases is preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities :

Responsible for all operational aspects of Oracle 19c / 18c database systems including performance, integrity, and security.

Come up with new Database Architecture patterns on OCI and implement them in a phased manner

Lead the existing set of Database Team technically, mentor and scale them in upcoming technologies like Autonomous DB

Monitor performance of the database and the database servers; Determine optimal performance parameters for the database server, operating system, etc., and tune as needed.

Carry out periodic maintenance of the database platform in terms of rebuilding indexes, statistics, software updates, security updates, and service packs.

Ensure that redundant database systems are properly maintained and available for activation as and when required.

Carry out database design tasks in conjunction with the software development team and implement enhancements and modifications to the database.

Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and provide advice on improving database performance.

Monitor database logs and take corrective action on issues if required.

Participate 24x7 on-call support on a weekly rotating schedule, including weekends

Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures / documentation

Provide escalation support for database related issues

Share knowledge and mentor junior team members as needed

Develop administration automation and monitoring scripts as needed

Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent (B.E / B.Tech)

10 to 12 years of extensive database management experience with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

Thorough knowledge of relational database theory, information modeling, SQL, and data organization.

Proven experience in administration of Oracle databases on any Cloud Platform AWS / Azure / OCI.

Experience managing large-scale databases in Terabytes of Data.

Experience with database backup and recovery on Cloud

Experience administering DBMS systems running on Unix / Linux.

Experience with database patching and upgrades

Experience with developing and using automating database setup and maintenance scripts.

Experience with analyzing query execution plans and tuning the database accordingly.

Experience in analyzing AWRs and troubleshooting query slowness using SQL Patch / SQL Profile and SQL Baseline.

Strong troubleshooting skills to investigate errors and performance bottlenecks

Willing to work in a 24x7 production mission-critical environment, including weekends

Excellent written, verbal communication, and documentation skills

Desirable

Experience in administration of Postgres databases.

Experience in automating the management and configuration of multiple databases

Commercial Certification in Database Administration (Oracle)

Experience in any Unix shell script, Perl script, and Python

Work with a world-class team to provide enterprise-wide, Oracle Database Administration support for production systems and provide DBA services to application development teams, including database design, generation, coding, and production support.

Provide DBA support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to user problems of moderate nature to ensure user productivity.

Provide Development and / or Production support. This includes creating primary database storage structures, designing and creating primary objects, modifying database structure as necessary for enhancements or performance, creating documentation, designing interfaces, database objects, and creating plans.

Monitor and optimize the performance of the database, plan for backup and recovery of the database, and allocate system storage and plan future storage needs.

Create database-related scripts and programs to support development and production environments. Research, evaluate, design, test, recommend, and plan the implementation of new or improved RDBMS, ETL and database tools.

Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have a project lead role. 5 years of experience supporting relational databases as a DBA, with multiple distributed relational DBSM's or a depth and focus in Oracle and related tools.

Exposure and practice at using the DBMS to optimize the performance of large databases for enterprise use are preferred.

Experience with an organization with a key 24 X 7 reliance on its database is desirable. BS or equivalent desired.
