Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer - Converter Design performs mechanical design activities for converter & electrical cabinets

  • At least 3 years’ design experience on Rail / Loco / Train domain
  • The Mechanical Engineer - Converter Design is performing the mechanical design activities in order and development projects.
  • She / he is responsible to draft & prepare technical specifications and performs following activities :

  • Design cabinet concepts & materials inclusive surface treatments,
  • Prepare component specifications,
  • Performs cost analysis, evaluates and recommend components, devices and sub-contractors
  • Generates engineering reports & documentation,
  • Designs cabinets and ensures their mechanical integrity in 3D tools using CATIA v5,
  • Prepares thermal, mechanical strength and fluid dynamic calculations,
  • Prepares component & wiring layouts & Supports prototyping & prototype testing activities.
  • Applies basic engineering design principles on each project activity
  • Conduct self and team’s internal quality checks to ensure defect free deliverables
  • Excellent oral & written English communication
  • Proficiency in other languages (German, French, Italian, Swedish) will be added advantage
  • Required Skills

  • Converter design inclusive relevant product & test standards,
  • Design of electrical cabinets inclusive relevant product & test standards,
  • Modelling & Simulation of converters & related to thermal behaviour, fluid dynamics & mechanical strength,
  • Dimensioning & selection of housing made of black steel, stainless steel and aluminium,
  • Selection and dimensioning of converter components, i.e. pumps, fans, blowers, heat exchanges etc. inclusive relevant standards,
  • Surface treatment principles inclusive relevant standards,
  • Tools, viz. Catia, PDM, CFD, FEA, MS Office
  • Good understanding of quality assurance and procurement processes, viz. SEAP, PAP, FAI
  • Knowledge on rolling stock design / Loco CAB Design / Train interiors Design
  • Ability to independently develop detailed concepts
  • Well versed with GD&T
  • Hands-on experience on CATIA V5 and PLM platform like Enovia to create 3D models, 2D drawings and product structure
  • Knowledge on manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge on Rail industry standards for various regions
  • Qualification : BE / B.Tech / M.Tech(Mechanical Engineering)
