We are building the next generation sourcing supply chain in India for perishable selection and farm produce. This is a unique opportunity to build a brand new infrastructure that helps us win big within grocery space.
While you will build this as an IN first solution, you will build it in a way that other emerging markets should be able to adopt it with minimal changes.
Given this initiative is new, you will have an opportunity to build his team from scratch. You will work with principal engineer, senior TPMs and SDEs to solve complex use cases of food sourcing and processing.
You will need a creative flare, strong problem-solving skills, the drive to build and ship products often; the desire to build Amazon's next generation Internet-
facing technology to be successful in this role.You will work directly with our category business leaders; IN food safety experts and vendor managers;
supply chain Ops leaders and Product Managers to determine right solutions and trade-offs.
The successful candidate will :
Be responsible for the end to end ownership of business and technology teams, set the vision and strategy for the product area.
Be responsible for setting the technological vision for developing our systems to serve Amazon’s needs
Build and manage great software engineers that are responsible for developing and maintaining software that optimizes our transportation network
Be a champion of engineering and operational excellence : establish group-wide metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence and a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvement, you will need to be comfortable working in a "deep dive" environment
Establish a consistent, project management framework and excellent development processes across multiple development teams to deliver high quality software, in rapid iterations, for business partners in multiple geographies
Show strong business and technical judgment that will accelerate time to market of releases, while incrementally moving our services towards the long term vision
Be responsible for mentoring and developing Senior Engineers
Represent the technical organization and evangelize the work to senior leadership
Raise the bar on technical excellent, show thought leadership, and communicate well to different audiences
10+ years of relevant development and design experience
6+ years of management experience (team of 12 to 14 engineers / QAEs)
Experience with high scalability requirements
Experience with service-oriented architectures and web services
Experience designing distributed systems
Experience with employee development, performance management and delivering results
Problem-solving skills and the abilities to analyze quantitatively, scope technical requirements and effectively prioritize program deliverables essential to team success
Presentation and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build partnerships with senior leaders across a variety of groups throughout Amazon
Genuinely excited about technology, strong interest in learning about and playing with the latest technologies and building compelling applications.
Demonstrated passion for innovation.
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
Experience in Agile development methodology and best practices.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
Experience working with service oriented architectures and web based solutions.
