Job Description :
Maxim’s Core Products Group has an opening for a Characterization Engineer who will be responsible for bench level IC characterization and facilitate new product introduction for a variety of products in the Signal Chain, RF and power and Interface markets.
Examples of such IC’s include ADC / DACs, Opamps, RF ICs, buck / boost converters etc. The primary responsibilities are to develop all the hardware and software necessary to fully characterize newly designed devices and to perform all the analysis required to validate the design and characterize its performance.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual to take ownership of the product characterization and development process.
Job duties will include :
Work as part of a cross functional multi-site dynamic team alongside the lead PE to meet aggressive project schedules.
IC characterization at bench level, Intial operating review, troubleshooting and debug, correlation, data review and summary reports.
Hardware design : Create PCB schematics and layout for DUT characterization with minimal supervision.
Software : Develop routines and GUI in C# / LabVIEW to automate bench test equipment for IC characterization and interface with the DUT using variety of interfaces SPI, I2C, USB, UART, GPIB etc.
Verify the reported bugs, fix the software library functions and release new revision to the team.
Duplicate customer issue, support failure analysis by identifying the root cause and perform experiments toward resolution.
Statistical studies of larger quantities of data to determine device performance
MSEE with 2+ years of IC Design or Product or Applications or Test Engineering experience.
Must have knowledge of at least one product line - DC-DC converters (linear / switching), Real Time Clock, LED Drivers, Data Converters (ADC, DAC) etc.
Experience with lab equipment like DMM, oscilloscope, Function Generator, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer etc.
Experience with automation of lab equipment using programming languages like LabVIEW or C++.
Experience with Design or data processing programming language like MATLAB, VHDL / Verilog.
Software tools - Simulation tools (SPICE), PCB schematic (PADs logic, ORCAD, Allegro) tools and MATLAB.
Familiarity with test methodology of at least one of the product lines Precision Data Convertors, RF ICs and Power products (like LDO, Buck-boost DC-DC converter) is a must.
Should be able to read and understand the product data sheets & specifications.
Industrial experience with PCB design, PCB layout and debug is preferred.
Insatiable desire to learn new things.
