PROCESS BRIEF

The Product Development department is responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing analytical reports and applications that serve all our FactSet clients.

SUB-PROCESS BRIEF

Within Product Development, the Platform Product Development team works closely with application engineers, QA, salespeople, consultants and clients to ensure that current and future applications meet and exceed client expectations.

The team oversees strategy for and development of FactSet’s core workstation, web and mobile platforms. Platform Product Development oversees Workstation Container including navigation and all related utilities and underlying infrastructure.

FactSet Webframe, custom dashboards and all related utilities and underlying infrastructure. Other core features including FactSearch, Onboarding Wizard, Identifier Lookup and Identifier Widgets.

The team is also responsible for FactSet's suite of mobile products.

Within the Platform Product Development team, the Associate Product Specialists interact with multiple groups at FactSet to analyze, develop, test and support FactSet’s Platform product capabilities.

The position is perfect for a technically-inclined candidate who enjoys working with financial data and has the ability to collaborate across multiple groups at FactSet.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Platform PD team member :

Analyze data sets to aid application development and product management decisions

  • Usage analysis to drive requirements and retirement decisions
  • Create user lists to ensure product rollouts are communicated successfully
  • Conduct application performance analysis to identify areas for speed improvement
  • Distill helpdesk logs and visit summaries on a weekly basis and report trends and insights back to the larger product team
  • Support the overall Platform Product Development team with ad hoc requests for data analysis
  • Provide application support, maintenance, and guidance for internal users

  • Build and maintain a strong level of expertise on product features
  • Respond to RPDs (Bugs, Questions, and Enhancements) in a timely manner
  • Maintain the RPD backlog
  • Debug technical application issues to identify root causes and potential solutions
  • Manage internal documentation in Online Assistant and the Intranet
  • Assist in quality assurance for all assigned applications

  • Prebuild testing to ensure changes and enhancements function as specified
  • Content testing to ensure data is correct, consistent and meaningful
  • Performance testing to ensure the speed and efficiency of application
  • Regression testing to ensure essential application tests are constructed
  • Interface with key stakeholders to ensure efficient application development

  • Work alongside Product Managers to translate user needs into requirements
  • Collaborate with Engineers and QA to deliver features according to the specifications
  • Coordinate communication with Sales & Consulting for new product rollouts, and establish channels for ongoing feedback
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • B.Tech or M.tech in computer science or equivalent & MBA Finance
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills including proficiency with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in debugging, testing, application performance analysis, developing code, data analysis, software development life cycle
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to create and review documentation of test plans
  • Results oriented with the tenacity to solve difficult problems
  • Ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
  • Actively manage and share ideas to improve work process and output.
  • Uses market, product and customer knowledge to identify new product / service opportunities and changes / enhancements to current product line
  • Good team player
  • Attention to detail and ability to see big picture
  • Familiarity and a high level of interest in financial analysis
  • Willingness to align with US hours, to facilitate collaboration

  • Preferred Skills :

  • Knowledge on Java and JavaScript is added advantage.
  • Exposure / Knowledge on enterprise software from FactSet, Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg or Capital IQ
  • Knowledge on financials terms used in financial markets is highly desirable
