About the Role :

Ciena is looking for highly motivated and talented customer-facing Sales / Business Development Consultant focused on OTT / GCN Sales activities in India.

The role will require the ability to drive Sales and Business Development initiatives either directly or via a TSP channel.

The consultant is expected to be able to clearly articulate Ciena’s value proposition at all levels i.e. from engineers to CXOs.

A self-starter and a thought leader, this role expects the candidate to work with minimum guidance and be able to lead and influence customers, the rest of the team with his / her technology and domain expertise.


  • Accountable for the defined business outcomes within assigned territory or accounts
  • Identify, qualify and engage customers at all levels both at a technical and business level.
  • Ability to identify market direction and technology trends early and create / modify business models and solutions accordingly.
  • Ability to convince on Technical Solutions and Negotiate large complex deals to create a win win situation for multiple parties invoved.
  • Act as a customer advocate to internal teams and a trusted advisor to the customers
  • Be capable of presenting to large audiences on the subject matter.
  • Influence and capture customer applications to ensure product fits with Ciena portfolio.
  • Understand the evolution of Ciena’s product portfolio and articulate these plans to customers at a senior level.
  • Skillset

  • Excellent knowledge of Telecommunications market and business models
  • Excellent knowledge of the Data Center and Data Center interconnect market
  • Ability to create deal structures, business cases and present these to internal / external audience.
  • Ability to create & maintain healthy customer relationships and keep track of market opportunities.
  • Experience

  • Technical Degree; B.E. / B.Tech
  • 15 + years telecommunication industry experience
  • Prior Sales / Pre-Sales and Business Development experience
  • Demonstrate decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English), both technical and non-technical.
