Responsible for innovating and developing novel 3D organoid model and organoid-based assays for disease modelling and drug screening using medium to high throughput biomarker quantification and characterization.

Primary responsibilities :

  • Ideate, plan and implement novel 3D culture methods to generate tissue-specific organoid disease models and its characterization and validation
  • Identify challenges and opportunities in the field of human relevant micro physiological systems (MPS) and organoid models for drug screening
  • Understand and work on exploratory programs for inducing disease relevant phenotypes (injury, inflammation and fibrosis), develop novel micro-fluidic based organ-on chip culture and biomarker characterization
  • Manage a team and collaborate across different teams
  • Design study plans and outline the experimental structure, assign project goals and timelines within the team
  • Conduct laboratory studies, evaluate and trouble shoot efficiently
  • Delegate and supervise the execution by the team members and interpret the data outputs from cell-based assays, ELISA, microscopy and transcriptomics
  • Evaluate, develop, and apply diverse cutting-edge methods for quantification of bio-markers from immunofluorescence and histology readouts
  • Provide expertise in state-of-the-art cell biology techniques and performing hands-on work in cell-based assays and drug discovery
  • Implement best practices within the team and ensuring proper documentation of data.
  • Contribute to patent drafting, grant writing and provide regular interim project updates to the senior management and stake holders
  • Other responsibilities :

  • Lead technical discussion with CRO’s and service providers for outsourcing samples and contribute to implementation of new technologies
  • Mentor and guide junior team members on research techniques and their professional development
  • Develop efficient and productive work culture with scientists within the department, and other colleagues across R&D and non-R&D departments within the organization
  • Support development of novel protocols, reports and SOPs, and data management
  • Qualifications :

  • Ph.D. with 4 to 6 years of Industry experience in isolation and culture of human primary cells, cell biology, assay and analytical development
  • Prior experience with disease modelling and 3D culture is a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge on working with investigational drug compounds and drug discovery
  • Experience in writing scientific articles, research proposals, and knowledge on intellectual property
  • Expert knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and strong understanding of disease biology (inflammation and fibrosis)
  • Hands-on experience in various assays like ELISA, Flow Cytometry, FACS, Microscopy and other relevant techniques
  • Possess thorough knowledge of software like ImageJ, Graphpad PRISM
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
