Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading-edge-semiconductors across the world.

We primarily compete in four specific areas deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility : Hardware, Software, and Operations.

We have an open position in the Hardware Engineering group. The Hardware group designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability.

In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and supplier quality engineers contribute to designing and improving Lam’s products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, design and analyze complex mechanical sub-systems and systems, equipment, and packaging for advanced semiconductor processing equipments, starting from engineering requirements specification upto complete validation and production release
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
  • Assist in mentoring and providing feedback on others work including presentations, drawings and models, and communicating ideas and results to other engineers and management
  • Ensure documentations are consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.)
  • Provide design information to drafting for packaging documentation
  • Directly engage in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication
  • Develop and present reports / presentations that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at executive-level meetings
  • Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives
  • Collaborate with cross functional team to ensure hardware designs meet overall product objectives
  • Lead idea generation for future product / company / tech needs
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) with Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree;
  • or a Master’s degree with 8 years’ experience; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience

  • Develop and design critical mechanical systems and sub-systems for advanced semiconductor processing equipment or similar capital equipments including process chambers, vacuum systems, gas and liquid chemical delivery, pedestals, and showerheads as well as thermal, pressure, valve and motion controls
  • Highly skilled in working with interdisciplinary (analytical approach to problem-solving statics, dynamics, thermal, flow, application of statistical methods or combinations of these, etc.
  • engineering departments in realizing project goals

  • Working knowledge of Statistics Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause-Corrective Action (RCCA), 8D & 5-Whys Problem solving, DFx, testing & validation using simulations and experimentation
  • Strong project management abilities to work with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Established ability to contribute insightful technical ideas to other engineers’ design work, machine systems, and new hardware / application scoping
  • Excellent written, verbal, and business effective communication and presentation skills
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong manufacturing knowledge like - machining (conventional & non-conventional), welding, installation and assembling of big component, sheet metal fabrication
  • Knowledge and experience in plasma and / or thermal CVD / ALD deposition reactors
  • Good understanding of semiconductor capital equipment industrial (SEMI) standards
  • Understanding of Instrumentation (Sensors in Thermal & Flow networks) & RF systems
  • Knowledge in GD&T, Tolerance stack up analysis & Interference calculations, value engineering
  • Contributions to customer escalations / field problem solving, troubleshooting, containment, FA, CAPA
  • Experience with Systems Engineering
