Responsible for design and implementation of infrastructure security solutions. Provide engineering to operate and support mission critical infrastructure services to all consumers in Novartis which are in scope of the BEF and / or COE, ensuring their stability and integrity
Design, install and support Local Area Networks & Wide Area Networks solutions to fulfill business requirements gathered by Global IT Infrastructure & Services
Coordinate external and internal resources in daily operations as well as project delivery.
Act as business partner primarily for Connectivity Network service lines (LAN & WAN) but also collaborate with other Novartis IT engineering Organizations when and where required
Collaborate in IT infrastructure initiatives for standardization and adoption of new and existing technologies
Act as senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) for voice and video including, but not limited to, last level of escalation support (level 4) for daily operations
Act as the technology SME interface with 3rd party service as well as technology providers.
Network design and consistency checks - Priority : Production & Warehouse sites
Instruct network service providers to correct and adjust network segments not following design or architecture standards
Instruct network service providers to correct and adjust network device configurations not following standards
Technical review of high-risk changes
L4 escalation and support for Major / Critical incidents (ex. MIM, MIM Investigations)
Deep-dive Connectivity and application troubleshooting exercises in close collaboration with Tools & Visibility (ex : traffic analysis, tuning and testing)
End of Life analysis and supplier guidance (ensure refreshes align w / published roadmaps and standards)
Develop and document Novartis-specified procedures (ex. WLAN surveys) and review vendor submitted technical procedures in collaboration with Service Lines and global ITIL process owners
Create and maintain related documentation.
Service Improvement review and guide service providers for addressing clean-up or correction of network designs or configs
SME Act as SME for one or multiple connectivity technologies and support / consult proactively improves service availability wherever possible and optimizes the availability of voice & video infrastructure for cost-
effective improvements that deliver tangible benefits to the business
Perform Production Engineering including specification definition, design of solution in compliance with corporate standards, implementation, testing through to production
Level 3 and Level 4 Support for problems identified with systems and network. Will act as an escalation for Level 2 and Level 3 Managed Services support technicians
Assist with monthly reports, and recommendations for Managed Services Clients
Ensure all changes go through appropriate review, change control, and acceptance before implementation
Perform Project Engineering including specification definition, design of solution in compliance with corporate standards, implementation, testing through to production.
Utilize superior customer service skills
oUniversity degree level education or comparable education in Computer Science OR Engineering Science (technical background) OR work experience as senior network engineer in a global enterprise.
Business fluent in English (Written and spoken)
o10+ years related experience in designing, planning, documenting and implementing Network solutions using latest technology
o10+ years of SME (subject matter Expert) relevant experience in routing and switching, Software defined LAN networks, and Wireless technologies.
oHands-on technical experience on Software defined networking (SD-LAN / SD-WAN) oHands-on technical experience on wireless infrastructure
