We are looking for a hands-on leader with strong management experience to come lead a Hospitality Global Business Unit’s R&D Team. This role is responsible for actively participating in the definition of Oracle Hospitality Hotel Cloud-Native Applications architecture while providing guidance to our product development and application operations teams. We are looking for a leader to help drive our end-to-end Cloud strategy to ensure that our product development and operational processes are aligned with our “True Cloud” vision.

As a Software Development Manager, you will be technically adept in Cloud technologies, possessing a broad combination of skills and experiences, and who does not mind rolling up his/her sleeves to make the team successful. This role requires you to be technically curious with a strong desire to understand how things are built and work. This role also requires a forward-thinking openness to new technologies and approaches while remaining vigilantly focused on regulatory strength and maximum availability. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, Agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Project Management and Technical Leadership for every aspect of software
  • Lead, Coach, Mentor and Manage globally distributed teams in an Agile model
  • Establish and stimulate software development standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high quality software.
  • Drive a customer-first culture that keeps the customer at the forefront of decision making
  • Provide Technical Leadership in the definition of scalable, self-healing, high quality autonomous platform solutions
  • Define how to use the latest and cutting edge technologies to identify and optimize the operational efficiency for architecture supporting Oracle Hospitality Cloud Service Offerings
  • Evaluate projects, develop and update schedules plus supervise project status.
  • Plan the career path of individual team members in alignment with Business and Personal development goals
  • Ideal Experience:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering or related engineering fields
  • 15+ years of Industry Experience with Applications Development, including 8+ years of management experience and 3+ years in Cloud-based Software Development
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem solving skills
  • Prior experience of working in an Agile model
  • Experience working/managing globally distributed teams
  • Proficient in J2EE Development
  • Experience in REST APIs and JavaScript- based UI development
  • Knowledge of Micro services-based Cloud Native application development
  • Good knowledge and experience in architecture and designing of complex systems
  • In-depth knowledge in Cloud technologies and would have designed/architected solutions to deploy products in Cloud
  • Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure technologies like AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
  • Solid understanding of effective cloud computing principles
  • Experience designing solutions with security and high performing applications in Cloud
  • Broad, strong technical knowledge which encompasses application operations including deployment, automation, platform architecture, Database, Network, Load-balancing / Clustering, and Security 
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, deployment, and operational management of best-in-class cloud service offerings
  • Experience in developing Secured Enterprise applications (IDCS, SSO, Oauth2, SAML, Spring security, etc.)
  • Worked on server-side performance/monitoring (App-D, EM) and Logging (ELK) measurements and tuning
  • Strong technical acumen; creativity; interpersonal skills; emotional intelligence
  • Detailed knowledge of architectural approaches including consolidation, Cloud computing, virtualization, disaster recovery, High Availability, information management, Big Data, Java applications, Oracle and non-Oracle applications
  • Knowledge of common web application and mobile frameworks
  • Demonstrated expertise in bringing applications to Cloud

    Detailed Description and Job Requirements

    Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

    As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

    Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
