The Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team.
The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.
A highly skilled Java-J2EE developer with good Java and DB experience is required to work on our regulatory applications.
The developer would work closely with the business analyst, the architect and the user community to translate the user requirements to scalable solutions.
They would be responsible for developing prototypes, unit test cases, design artifacts and production implementations.
They would ensure that the application components are built to the highest standards across the application life-cycle with a constant eye for process improvement through unit testing automation, one click build and deployment
They should continue to conduct research on new products and technologies, to ensure they and the team are aware of the latest products available
Projects in the Operations Regulatory Control Technology area are run in iteration life-cycles with agile practices, so experience of agile development and scrums is highly beneficial
Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas to identify and define necessary system enhancements, including using script tools and analyzing / interpreting code
Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend programming solutions, install, and support customer exposure systems
Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications.
Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, as well as conduct testing and debugging
Serve as adviser or coach to new or lower level analysts
Identify problems, analyze information, and make evaluative judgments to recommend and implement solutions
Resolve issues by identifying and selecting solutions through the applications of acquired technical experience and guided by precedents
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
6 8 years of industry experience, with a minimum of 6 years in Java development
Strong in Core Java
Hands on experience on Microsrevices architecture
Hands on experience in Spark, Kafka
Good knowledge of HDFS, HBase and Hive Technologies
Experience in Spring is preferable
Strong knowledge on build (Maven), continuous integration, code quality analysis (SonarQube) and unit and integration testing (JUnit)
Intermediate level experience in Applications Development role
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
Experience in Agile methodology and Scrum framework
Banking and securities domain knowledge would be an added advantage
Experience in Regulatory Reporting systems would be an added advantage
Bachelor’s degree / University degree or equivalent experience
