Job Title : Application Support

Grade : BA4

The ownershipand execution of all application related activities related to the day to dayoperations of the Banks production applications related to the individualProduct area.

  • Asappropriate, may directly supervise or co-ordinate the work of others in a teamstructure.
  • Ownership andprioritisation of group of Incidents, Problems or Changes and ensuring thedelivery of solutions in line with the Operational Level Agreements todeadlines and quality standards.
  • Accountablefor the creation of Release and Communication Plans in line with the regularrelease slots.
  • Owner of agroup of Service Improvement items and responsible for their implementation.
  • The deliveryof documentation to agreed standards, on time and error free.
  • Out of hourscover and support, providing expertise and specialised system knowledge toallow resolution of key incidents.
  • Alsoprovides support and direction to junior support analysts.

  • Coachesinexperienced team members and provides support and direction to assist withcareer progression.
  • Makesdecisions, with parameters set by management, using on the job and specialistexperience.
  • Candidate must have hands-on with mainframe / distributedenvironment and should be able to workindependently and if required guide team mates.
  • Candidate should havegood Analytical Skills.

  • Cancommunicate to peers, senior line management and senior business stakeholderseffectively.
  • Creates alogical plan, realistic estimates and schedule for an activity or projectsegment.
  • Understandingcustomer needs and priorities to providing quality services. Using creativeproblem solving and successfully executing tasks.
  • Explaining,advocating and expressing facts and ideas in a variety of settings both orallyand in writing. Out of hours cover and support, providing expertise andspecialised system knowledge to allow resolution of key incidents.

  • MVC architecture
  • Unix / Shell scripting
  • Oracle / SQL
  • Detailed knowledge of products / functions outside of day-to-dayarea supported.
  • Takes the lead and can drive engagement with all business usersand understand their issues, regardless of Seniority. Provenresults in Incident Management discipline.
  • BSc degree in relevant software engineering discipline, equivalentto UK 2nd class honours or in depth relevant experience (preferred).
  • ITIL v3Foundation (preferred). In depth experience of IT Support (essential).
