PROCESS BRIEF

The Product Development department is responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing analytical reports and applications that serve all our FactSet clients.

Product Analyst interacts with multiple groups at FactSet to analyze, develop, test, & support our desktop-based reports and applications.

The position is perfect for a technically inclined candidate who enjoys working with financial data and has the ability to collaborate across multiple groups at FactSet.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Products Product Analyst will work on a variety of product development projects within the Core Products product suite.

It is an middle level position within the Core Products - Product Development team. It includes the following responsibilities :

  • Analyze data sets to aid application development and product management decisions
  • Content set analysis to account for appropriate business logic for the resulting application
  • Usage analysis to drive requirement and support decisions
  • Application performance analysis to identify areas for improvement
  • Learn and understand FactSet user workflows to inform product analysis
  • Engage with internal resources and colleagues to understand what users are trying to achieve with our products
  • Understand how to user workflows into effective enhancements
  • Assist in quality assurance for all assigned applications
  • Prebuild testing to ensure changes and enhancements work properly Content testing to ensure data is correct, consistent, and meaningful
  • Performance testing to ensure the speed and efficiency of application calculations
  • Regression testing to ensure essential application and data tests are constructed
  • Provide application support, maintenance, and guidance for internal users
  • Build and maintain a strong level of expertise on focused data sets and product features
  • Manage / track issues pertaining to application bugs, questions, and enhancements
  • Debug technical application issues to identify root causes and potential solutions
  • Interface with key stakeholders to ensure efficient application development
  • Engage Product managers to translate requirements into enhancements
  • Engage Application Engineering to create efficient and sustainable architecture strategies
  • Engage other Technical Product Developers to ensure consistent and scalable practices
  • Engage Content Integration Engineering (CIE) to ensure efficient integration of content sets
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Preferably a minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in Finance, User Experience and Software Development Life Cycle

  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to work independently
  • Results orientated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge and interest in financial analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and an attention to detail
  • Articulate communicator, with excellent language skills both oral and written
  • Quick learner; ability to apply skills and past experiences in new situations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Desired Skills

  • Knowledge or experience with Enterprise software from FactSet, CapIQ, Thomson Reuters or Bloomberg (good to have)
  • Knowledge on financials terms used in financial markets is highly desirable
