As a Network Virtualization Engineer you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support for the network within the OVH US cloud environment.
You will be required to understand application and hardware points of failure, performance characteristics and have the ability to identify actionable items to maintain an acceptable service level for all associated environments and applications.
You will be required to participate in an on-call rotation and serve as top-level support for network related issues.
Adhere to policies, processes and procedures within your areas of responsibility
Maintain and administer applications, custom monitors and custom reports
Serve as third tier escalation and provide root cause for incidents or problems in the environment
Work with project management resources related to the execution of projects related to the area of responsibility
Document, track, respond and provide resolution to incidents and service requests with the required service level agreements
Create and maintain documentation (diagrams, standard operating procedures and run books)
Create knowledge base articles and handling processes that can be will be used by NOC personnel, support engineers and Data Center Operations in response to routine incidents
Identify, schedule and execute maintenance activates through change control processes
Analyze data, develop and distribute trending reports detailing capacity, performance, and availability metrics for assigned applications and services.
Audit and remediation of discrepancies from standards
Recommend and implement monitoring test sets to ensure availability
Operate dense and expansive datacenter network installations, requiring 24 / 7 accessibility
Collaborate with a team to architect and engineer elastic cloud networks
Hands on implementation, maintaining, and troubleshooting of these complex networks
Provide innovative suggestions for complex implementation solutions
Perform technology assessment and requirements analysis to develop proper solutions for internal / external PoC's
Collaborate with other engineering and operations teams working toward shared goals
Identify implementation inefficiencies and suggest / implement corrective changes
Document concise pre-deployment and post-deployment plans and review with team for all configuration changes
Stay abreast of current technologies and make recommendations based on knowledge and research
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Skills and Background
4+ years’ experience with architecting, implementing and troubleshooting complex switching and routing deployments : Cisco VSS / vPC, port-
channels (N*10Gbps), trunking, svclc / firewall, and spanning tree (MST / PVST)IPv4, HSRP / VRRP, OSPF v2, BGP v4, MPLS, and VRF
4+ years in an enterprise class IT or managed service organization
4+ years’ experience building and implementing dense core / edge networks utilizing top end Juniper, Cisco, or similar scale switches
3+ years’ experience with software and hardware firewall implementations (layering, DMZ, SNAT / DNAT, etc.)
3+ years’ experience with software and hardware load balancers
3+ years technical experience with network management systems
Capable of preparing detailed build / test plans to implement new technologies / configurations
Working experience with a variety of network platforms
Experience with Arista spine and leaf switches
Experience with VMWare virtualization products
Experience with IPv6, OSPF v3, and BGP v6
Experience with storage networks
Linux experience (network stack, iptables, tcpdump / wireshark)
Scripting experience (configuration management)
Experience with log aggregation tools such as Strata or Splunk
Broad working knowledge of UNIX / Linux and Windows platforms
Working DB knowledge a plus
Ability to collaborate with a team working across multiple sites
Ability to span and focus on multiple projects, without requiring micro management
Ability to analyze requirements delivered by system and application administrators and develop a management strategy
Ability to troubleshoot incidents that combines multiple technologies in a complex configuration
Ability to mine performance and capacity data from various sources and formulate valuable analysis
Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS / CIS), related degree or equivalent work experience
Industry certifications preferred : CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE, VPC, SCSA, RHCE, etc.
Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills
Familiar with fundamentals of ITIL framework v3
