Job summary

The Red Hat Sales team in India is looking for a Business Development Manager to represent Red Hat as the vendor of choice into the carrier telecommunications market in the India and South Asia region.

This will include telecommunications operators, network equipment providers (NEPs), independent software vendors (ISVs), and independent hardware vendors (IHVs).

In this role, you will enable and support the local sales teams across the Commercial Sales team, including direct and channel sales teams, to achieve revenue and growth targets through your unique understanding of the marketplace, deep relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ability to conceptualize and develop relevant solutions sets while anticipating industry needs, and evangelizing and growing Red Hat's brand.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Bring subject matter expertise and relationships in the India telecommunications business to Red Hat and identify and engage various opportunities to develop Red Hat's telecommunications business in India and South Asia
  • Motivate, coach, and mentor sales teams to grow existing accounts and capture new business by developing effective, industry-specific sales strategies
  • Design strategic sales plans through competitive analysis, customer segmentation, and thoughtful positioning of our offerings
  • Provide disciplined, ethical, and focused leadership to the Sales team that will foster success based on a culture of respect for customers, associates, and Red Hat’s values
  • Evangelize the Red Hat value proposition with customers, industry bodies, and the partner ecosystem
  • Promote the creation of a pipeline and support sales closures of critical or strategic opportunities
  • Play a direct role within the Field Sales team by maintaining a personal presence and being highly visible through direct customer engagements in the field
  • Coordinate with other business development professionals in other Red Hat’s regions to ensure best practices for the sales engagement process
  • Promote the adoption of Red Hat’s offerings, technologies, and services capabilities in the marketplace
  • Develop and nurture the partner ecosystem required for the business through close cooperation
  • Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a technical discipline; MBA is a plusSolid understanding of and experience selling telco software solutions, preferably with prior experience in the emerging network functions virtualization (NFV) space10-15 years of solid leadership experience in a technology sales organization (software-based one is highly preferred);
  • demonstrated success achieving sales targets in both direct and channel routes to marketSuccessful record of delivering on growth-oriented sales and business development targetsExcellent planning, financial, and analytical skills;
  • proven ability to apply these skills to complex situations with competing prioritiesGood customer orientation and presentation skillsAbility to articulate and evangelize the vision and positioning of both Red Hat and open source technology and secure long-term customer commitmentsAbility to partner with senior business leaders to understand needs and deliver solutions that meet expectationsDemonstrated ability to think creatively and design novel approaches that balance local customer needs with corporate guidelines and philosophiesExperience building and developing successful relationships within telecommunications carriers, system integrators (SIs), ISVs, and partners
