Operating within the Analytics Infrastructure Services team (AIS), a part of Guy Carpenter Information Technology (GCIT) this role the primary focus of this role is to support hardware and associated software tools across Guy Carpenter’s Global Analytics environments.
This very talented candidate will have excellent analytical, reporting and communication skills with an understanding of, service management (ITIL) principles.
The candidate should have a positive inquisitive attitude and excellent communication skills report and govern against PC infrastructure policy,
Ensure optimum performance, configuration & health across Analytics & Catastrophe Modelling environments is maintained at all times
Understand Guy Carpenter & Marsh McLennan Cloud policies required for supporting our Azure environments
Work proactively with Guy Carpenter Analytics teams across multiple time zones
Respond to out of hour’s emergency support requests associated with any Marsh McLennan critical response initiatives as required
Build productive relationships with other Guy Carpenter & Marsh McLennan teams (Business & IT) to enhance opportunities to improve workflow & process
Engage external Vendor partners as required to deliver effective solutions based on a deep understanding of their products
Understand Guy Carpenter’s key business drivers demonstrating a working knowledge and synergy with the CAT modelling process
Build a broad knowledge in using all licensed CAT tools to clearly understand the business challenges
Adhere to published workflow, best practices & compliance procedures (Marsh McLennan & Guy Carpenter)
Keep administrative software tools and systems updated at all times
Undertake & participate in peer review checks (paperwork) with other Technical Support staff
Ensure correct application of software licenses are in line with any published use restrictions
Stay current with vendor product direction to ensure Guy Carpenter designs can be optimized accordingly
Plan & publish application installation, server outages & upgrade timing with key stakeholders
Ensure adequate system testing is conducted internally and with vendors as required prior to business release. All pre production checklists to be followed
Utilize Guy Carpenter knowledge base in all support initiatives prior to engagement of other teams (internal or external).
Update Knowledgebase post resolution
Address any automated server monitoring advices, MGTI tickets, in a timely fashion
Perform administrative tasks aligned to capacity management in conjunction with Guy Carpenter storage initiatives
Understand and respond to Backup and Disaster Recovery processes
Follow the Marsh McLennan Greater Good initiatives
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while delivering high standards of customer service
Degree in ITMay consider an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working in the Insurance industry and involvement with Catastrophe Modelling tools, Risklink, Touchstone etc.
Strong database administration skills (SQL server) along with experience with SQL scripting,
Minimum of 3 years working experience in the IT Industry
Minimum of 3 years’ experience of using the follow Microsoft server products :
Microsoft SQL Server
Understanding of Active Directory
Understanding of networking concepts
Exposure to Powershell
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to work with senior IT & business staff
Ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences
Ability to work independently or with limited direction
