Job Overview

For our new Engineering Services Site at Bangalore we are currently seeking a professional Technical Writer to be part of a team of writers skilled in the field of energy or engineering. The

successful applicant will report to the Team Leader Technical Documentation Department and will be responsible for creating technical documents such as instruction instructions, manuals, data

sheets, kit content lists, etc. The Technical writer will be working with technical staff to receive technical input and then explain installation and handling of products in a clear and concise manner using text and images.

The Technical Writer will also handle the translations of the files and manage to produce international versions of the documents.

Further, it will be a goal to support the engineering team in developing digital technical documentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce and edit installation and handling instructions
  • Work on updates and revisions to our technical literature
  • Assist global Product Management and Sales teams in developing customized documents according to customer requests
  • Layout installation and handling instructions, data sheets, kit content lists, etc., according to customer needs
  • Create foreign language versions of master files
  • Maintain structure and organization of data files
  • Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals
  • Support the Team Lead in developing a data base for the technical literature and digital documentation
  • EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE

  • Diploma or certificate in technical writing, OR Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering plus >
  • 5 years of proven job experience in technical writing

  • Organized, methodical and self-motivated individual with the ability to work accurately also under time pressure
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw and MS Office, other DTP tools an advantage
  • Experience in Content Management Systems and XML an advantage
  • Fluent in English
