About the Role The successful candidate will provide general ledger closing and reporting activities together with the Finance team in Sydney for the Australian and New Zealand entities of Swiss Re.
The role covers multiple accounting valuations including Australian and New Zealand IFRS, US GAAP, Australian Solvency and other valuation reporting requirements to the Swiss Re Group as well as Australian and New Zealand regulators.
The candidate will also be responsible for indirect taxes and Oracle maintenance. The role is suited to an accountant in the early stages of their career and will provide exposure to fundamental finance processes and an opportunity to develop an understanding of the insurance sector in a highly diversified and global environment.
General ledger closing and reporting activities for the Australian and New Zealand entities of Swiss Re. This includes : Bangalore Finance teams during project ATLAS preparation and roll-
out of new accounting system (SAP). Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliation and analysis including retrocessions, investments, between valuations and others as required Provide support for the preparation of quarterly and annual regulatory submissions to APRA, ASIC and RBNZ Oracle maintenance and monitor interface error reports Support the US GAAP quarterly production process Responsible for various Swiss Re Group reports and Australian statistical submissions Support capital reporting Preparation of indirect tax (Stamp Duty and GST) bookings Provide assistance with the preparation of the annual financial statements Assist in preparing audit information for internal and external audit About You Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, BS in Accounting or Finance, Master or Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field Expertise in international accounting standards preferred (US GAAP) Experience in Statutory and Regulatory reporting (APRA) is an added advantage.
Insurance / Reinsurance of Financial Services knowledge preferred 3+ years of relevant work experience; Work experience in auditing with global firms and project environments are strong assets Strong analytical skills Strong excel skill would be an added advantage (advance excel / VBA / Macro knowledge) Results oriented with strong sense of urgency Self-
