This role is primarily as a market forecast analyst in the C3 (Military communications and command and control) team within the wider C4ISR branch.
Janes market forecast is the premier product of its kind anywhere in the world and tracks contract announcements and awards sixty of the largest military markets in the world.
The analyst will work with analyst looking at other markets to identify future opportunities for defence contractors. However, the applicant should expect to branch out into reference and consultancy.
Janes produces a range of online and hardcopy products providing reference material covering the detailed technical capabilities of various military equipment in this case specifically military communications equipment.
Analysts will also be expected to contribute to consultancy work which consists of bespoke analytical products covering both reference and market forecast material and original research.
The analyst will work in a team with members in the UK, US and India with experienced C3 analysts based in Bangalore for training and support.
Once the COVID threat lessons the role will be office based in Bangalore. Until then workers are working from home.
Effective analysts will need excellent maths and analytical skills and the ability to research open source data quickly and efficiently.
Alongside our own bespoke database system you will use Excel for some of the bulk work and a working knowledge is essential.
Reference records cover specific items of equipment and provide a description including capabilities. This information is used by both military and commercial customers.
Analysts need excellent research and English skills. Experience with a content management system is useful but not essential.
We are looking for subject matter expertise. This could be a good knowledge of C3 derived from a background in the defence industry or as a user.
A reasonable knowledge of physics would also be useful.
