JOB SUMMARY

Reports to the Dry Proposal Team Leader in Pune

The Proposal Engineer collaborates with a cross functional team from Proposal Management, Commercial, Global Design and Solutions Delivery and is responsible for developing cost effective Evaporation and Spray Drying systems proposals which are based on proven designs that meet or exceed customer needs.

The Proposal Engineer will follow all CPX IDEF processes and procedures and ensure that the systems proposals, which generally includes costs estimates, P&ID and layout drawings, proposal text and project schedules are completed in a compliant and timely manner.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Proposal Engineer will :

  • Collaborate closely with the Commercial function to ensure customer requirements are clearly defined and understood and that a detailed RFQ analysis has been completed as required
  • Understands and follows all SPX FLOW F&B internal governance and proposal approval processes e.g. QIA, Design Review, TCR, LEAF, LOAF
  • Collaborates with Commercial, Global Design and Solutions Delivery functions in Soeborg and Pune to develop Evaporation and Spray Dryer process solutions including process flow sheets and P&ID’s and ensures proposed solution and scope development aligns with customer needs and expectations
  • Be familiar with and understand both wet and dry (Evaporation and Spray Drying) process requirements
  • Use calculation software for equipment sizing
  • Prepare the detailed costing (equipment & services) using the appropriate tool (APACE or SQS)
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders to obtain the necessary sub-quotations or cost estimates
  • Consult external subcontractors in accordance with Supply Chain Management IDEF processes and procedures
  • Organize the necessary design review - quotation review - cost review (TCR)
  • Identify and share all potential risks during TCR (cost, scope, KPI's, etc.)
  • Work with Engineering and Project Management to create detailed project schedules
  • Ensure project risk is identified and mitigated inside the bid process
  • Support completion and review of all documents required for LEAF / LOAF submission
  • Ensure the deviation list properly reflects the scope and limits
  • Support completion of final quotation document and the associated engineering pack
  • Ensure proposals are submitted to internal and external customers in a right and performant timing
  • Logs all cost, price and scope changes between quotation revision
  • Maintain a strong relationship and trust with Commercial Organization
  • Supports development of CVO quotes with Project Management & Sales
  • Participates in Project Handover meetings
  • Participates in project closure meetings at the end of the project
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Essential :

  • Proposal Management or Project Management skills to act as bid manager for larger multi-site bids
  • Technical knowledge and experience in preparing and executing small / medium proposals in Food & Beverage industry and preferably in Evaporation and Spray Drying
  • Knowledge and practice of the overall Food & Beverage Systems project delivery concepts of engineering, supply chain, installation and commissioning processes to ensure on time, on cost and at high quality delivery.
  • Understanding of SPX Project Management Excellence (IDEF) and F&B Commercial Process Excellence
  • Knowledge of process categories within Food & Beverage
  • Knowledge of food / beverage regulations / hygiene requirements, etc.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal in English
  • Structured and detail oriented
  • Has experience in working multicultural and with people from Western cultures
  • Financial awareness and understanding of key cost components and margin build up
  • Good attention to detail, able to interpret detailed technical specifications and contractual requirements
  • Quality focused and commercially aware
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel including document merges
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Awareness
  • Legal Awareness, Contract & Claims Management
  • Understanding Supply Chain Management and Low Cost Country supply strategy
  • Desirable

  • Experience with Evaporation and Spray Drying technologies either as former Process Engineer or Commissioning Engineer
  • Experience with European norms and standards
  • Familiar with common costing and reporting tools SAP, SQS, APACE, EXAPTA etc.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; Engineering, Food Technology, or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Project.
  • Desirable

  • 1 - 3 years’ related industry experience; education and / or training in Evaporation and Drying Proposals, Process Engineering or Project Management;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Detailed knowledge of the requirements of the Food and Beverage industry
  • Preferable to have good knowledge of the SPX Product range
