Brief overview of the role
Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the Senior Tech Lead is responsible for leading Tech Leads across multiple products.
You are expected to work with your team daily ensuring the team solves their challenging problems within deadlines. You will continuously need to improve the quality of your team's performance through coaching and the setting of objectives.

In this role, besides working closely with you own team you will need to foster strong relationships with Stakeholders, Business Analysts, Architects and other managers against a common focus to deliver.
Key responsibilities :
Contributing to the creation of business cases will be a core part of the role by providing technical insight and participating in high level sizing meetings.
Accountable for the technical delivery of one or more products.
Create completely new re-usable applications / frameworks / libraries or build / improve upon existing ones.
Evaluate 3rd party products before deciding on whether to build custom in-house ones.
Promote the use of TDD as a core engineering practice with a highest percentage of code coverage possible.
Coaching of Tech Leads and ensuring they follow the same example with their own team members to deliver a high quality of code.
Ensure that the Tech leads follow through with decisions made by the Architecture team.
Keeping up to date with the latest Software Engineering practices.
Ensure Software Engineering teams are suitably trained to perform all job functions and suitably use software related tools.
Set SMART targets for your Tech Leads ensuring that they stretch themselves to achieve these.
Hire new staff and ensure those who are not performing are put on a plan (PIP) to help them succeed. Failing that, work with HR to relieve them of their service.
Ensure all administrative tasks are followed and completed as by law or the company policies.
The following experience / skills are highly desirable :
Technical skills / experience :
Prior experience as a Tech Lead.
6+ years with minimum 70% hands on development contribution experience using Microsoft .NET technologies to build applications and services
1 to 2 years of cloud platform experience.
Proven experience building common frameworks that can be used across multiple applications.
Highly experienced with Test Driven Development (TDD) and especially Domain Driven Design (DDD).
Experience in Agile and DevOps technical practices including CI / CD.
Strong technical and analytical skills.
Actively learning and regularly upgrading self-knowledge on the agile practices, architectural advancements, technical tools, etc.
Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by your teams.
Servant Leader Must be able to garner respect from his / her team and be willing to get involved to ensure the work gets completed to schedule.
Communicative and social Must be able to communicate well within his / her own teams and the broader Technology teams through verbal and written skills.
Situationally Aware Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems / issues and find solutions. Must be the first to notice differences and issues as they arise and elevate them to responsible roles.
Conflict resolution Must be able to facilitate discussions and facilitate alternatives or different approaches to resolving challenges.

At least 8 years of experience in Software Development.
At least 3 years of experience in leading a team.
At least 3 years in an Agile environment.
Degree or National Diploma in Computer Science or related Software Engineering Qualification.
