After 60+ years of existence, it today has six company-owned manufacturing facilities at Thane, Induri (Pune), Malanpur (Gwalior), Sricity (Andhra Pradesh), Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), and Hyderabad and 4 sales offices (New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai).

The corporate office is in Mumbai. We operate in five categories in India Chocolate, Confectionery, Beverages, Biscuits, Gum and Candy and market 11 Power Brands which include Bournvita, Dairy Milk, Halls, Gems, 5Star, Choclairs, Perk, Celebrations, Bournville, Tang & Oreo.

Mondelez India Foods Ltd dominates the chocolate market in India with approximately 70% share of the market.

BASIC PURPOSE : The Legal Specialist is responsible for providing legal support to the Mondelez Factory at Induri and Sricity.

The position reports to Senior Legal Counsel, AMEA Legal India at HO and is primarily focused on managing Legal matters at one or more of our factories and or Corporate Functions.

The incumbent is expected to bring a business orientation and focus on problem solving, while upholding strong ethics and integrity across the organization.

  • The Legal Specialist is charged with providing high quality and responsive legal support and guidance to the relevant factory / ies as part of the Legal team;
  • establishing collaborative relationships with colleagues for effective business partnering of functions; manage litigation through external legal resources within budgets as directed by the Legal Counsel;
  • and highlight and manage risk in areas supported.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES : Listed below are a series of brief key statements which describe the Principal Accountabilities of this role.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    1. Provide legal support and risk evaluation to relevant factory, through

  • contract risk management
  • ensuring appropriate protection of intellectual property
  • identification and interpretation of applicable laws and regulations
  • policy interpretation, development and training
  • litigation and support for customer claims
  • negotiate and managing external legal fees within agreed budgets
  • provide legal support for major projects in the relevant factory as delegated by Counsel and manage the Factory Stakeholder maps
  • 2. Establish a culture of compliance throughout the relevant factory through all forms of advice, communication, role modelling and training and includes :

  • overseeing corporate governance and compliance with law and policy
  • policy interpretation, development and training
  • Implementing effective compliance training programs for policies owned by the Legal function
  • 3. Participate in and contribute to the Global Legal department's knowledge management and productivity building initiatives as agreed with the Counsel on an annual basis

  • Robust knowledge of local law and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey legal advice and documentation in a commercially sound and relevant manner
  • Sound judgment and business sense
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of managers across a wide variety of business disciplines
  • Strong customer focus, yet have the ability to give independent advice
  • Knowledge of domestic and international FMCG / Foods industry, competitors and regulatory environment
  • Ability to manage numerous matters and competing priorities and to work within a matrix set up

  • Qualifications

    Candidate Experience Profile

    Education : Post graduate degree in Law from a recognized University

    Experience : At least 5 years Post Qualification experience as in-house legal advisor in a large corporation with multiple locations and manufacturing facilities.

    Experience in FMCG or Food companies preferred.
