The Red Hat DevOps team is looking for an experienced Associate Manager to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will join a team of globally diverse, determined, and incredibly smart systems engineers and administrators.
You’ll become part of a team that works in a fast-paced environment, managing the infrastructure that is fundamental to our software engineering.
You’ll need to foster innovation to improve the operational performance of our platforms and environments. You’ll report directly to the Products and Technologies (PnT) DevOps SysOps Senior Manager.
As an Associate Manager, you should have excellent leadership and organizational abilities, as well as the ability to work across teams both inside of the PnT DevOps and Red Hat at large.

Primary job responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of a team of systems engineers and administrators
Improve the technical ability, utilization, and overall efficiency of your team by establishing and fostering best practices and creating individual development plans
Collaborate closely with the leadership peers to deliver expected results
Build feedback mechanisms for business stakeholders to keep partnerships efficient
Handle escalations and maintain priority for each project
Guide incident management to conclusion, up to and including root cause and corrective actions
Establish and recommend policies on system use and services
Help manage the backlog of work and prioritize with senior leadership
Perform one-on-one performance and coaching sessions with all team members on a regular basis
Serve as an agent of change to help mature the organization, adopt a DevOps culture, and emphasize focus on customer
Manage on-call rotation schedules to ensure that we have 24 / 7 coverage
Facilitate team building activities and encourage global collaboration
Work closely with peers in different regions to ensure that your team is unified in voice
Make presentations to customers and their audiences or professional peers
1+ years of experience as an associate manager of a support or systems operations team, or 2+ years of experience in a team lead or technical leadership role in a support or systems operations team
5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure operations or engineering
Understanding of cloud technologies, including experience with either public or private cloud services covering compute, networking, storage, and other concepts like Platform-
as-a-Service (PaaS); experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat OpenShift, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a plus
Experienced with configuration management, automation, and orchestration using modern tools, and a broad understanding of how these fit into the strategic organizational knowledge
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Understanding of open source development
Excellent people management skills, including mapping career paths and practicing motivational behaviors
Willingness to travel up to 10%, depending on current needs
Ability to connect and guide teams through rapid change and maintain focus on delivering strategic initiatives
Excellent communication, presentation, persuasion, and relationship-building skills; ability to communicate complex problems in a non-
technical and simplified manner
