As part of Payment Experience Tech team (within the larger Amazon Pay business) we are on a mission to make the payment experience trusted, fast, frictionless and rewarding to serve virtually every payment need.

As Senior Software Development Manager, Payment Experience Tech, you own the technology vision, strategy and execution for the core payment platform systems which make various choices of payment methods (selection) available to the customers and also recommend (influence) the usage of right instrument for the right context.

This platform payment acceptance experience for virtually all business use case teams (includes Shopping, paying bills, booking travel and movies, making payments in offline smart stores, making payments on third-party websites, sending money, doorstep payments etc)

This is a unique opportunity which comes with - (a) responsibility of owning high scale payment transaction traffic, (b) exposure to one of the most advanced and dynamic e-commerce checkout, (c) use of machine learning to personalise the payment experience, (d) excitement of the fast-paced fintech space, (e) ability to impact lives of millions of Indians across diverse preferences - cash habituated, new-to-credit, digital-native, aspirational and affluent by innovating of the customers.

To succeed in this role, you must have good technical knowledge and an entrepreneurial mindset, one who is not afraid to challenge status-quo, invent new playbooks, move fast, and deliver value-propositions which delight customers at an unprecedented scale.

Key job responsibilities include :

  • Build Team & Culture : Build a customer obsessed team which is technically fearless and keen to innovate on behalf of customers.
  • Hire and develop the best and instil mechanisms to drive a Day 1 culture indexing on customer obsession, invention and ownership.

  • Create Technology Leverage : Work with the senior engineers to build modular technology services architecture and simplify technology footprint across diverse set of products to create leverage and accelerate time to market.
  • Raise the bar on Availability : Instil best practices of monitoring and operating critical services with tier-1 availability
  • Deliver Customer Impact : Simplify customers’ lives by building easy-to-use, low latency, highly available and secure experiences which powers payment acceptance of various use-case teams - shopping, pay bills, transfer money, book tickets, pay at merchants, and more.
  • Influence Product Strategy : Work with product managers in developing a strategy and execution roadmap
  • Lean into the Future : Pioneer new ideas such as voice payments, experience led payments, and influencer driven payments.
  • Look around corners and identify inorganic growth opportunities
