Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems.

SRE ensures that Google's services both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement.

Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance. Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation.

On the SRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale which are unique to Google, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design.

You will be part of Google’s Devices and Services Silicon Engineering Productivity team. The charter of Silicon Engineering is to develop and maintain the underlying foundational infrastructure and improve the productivity of Silicon team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create, deliver and support automation within HPC and Unix environments
  • Leverage tools to ensure configuration state is consistent across multiple systems that can be tracked, changed and updated via automation
  • Provision, configure and maintain cloud infrastructure defined as code
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  • Support multi-site, high performance compute infrastructure and services for the global engineering product development organizations
  • Minimum qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Information Technology, related degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience building and supporting compute / storage / network infrastructure systems and solutions.
  • Experienced software developer in Python and Bash.
  • Experience in Linux operating system internals, networking, filesystems and storage technologies.
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Experience in writing software in one or more languages, such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, C++ or similar.
  • Experience with Unix / Linux operating systems internals (e.g., filesystems, system calls), and with networking or cloud systems
  • Experience in automating infrastructure provisioning, DevOps, and / or continuous integration / delivery.
  • Excellent in configuration management using Chef, puppet, Ansible.
  • Expert in capturing the entire "Infrastructure as Code" using tools like Terraform, Packer.
