We are looking for a highly-experienced, expert Microcontroller (MCU) Staff Applications Engineer. This role will demand supporting the current generation of strategic customers with their MCU designs, defining the next generation of MCU devices, and creating reference designs.
You will be working with IoT and mixed signal designs as most of these MCUs interface with (or have) connectivity, analog and digital blocks.
Academic / Professional Requirements :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or Computer Science with focus on embedded systems engineering.
2- 11 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in Applications Engineering or Systems Engineering role focused on embedded systems.
Strong background in design and development of embedded solutions with hands-on experience in embedded firmware development, knowledge of various microcontroller architectures and tool chains, and strong programming skills in embedded C / C++ and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
Knowledge of industry standard protocols and interfaces (I2C, UART / Bridges, Audio amps, LED / GPIO / LCD, USB, RTC etc.
and exposure to emerging standards and technologies.
Experience with wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth, BLE or Wi-Fi
Analog applications experience is desired with the knowledge of precision analog circuits, ADCs, DACs, Op Amps, Comparators, Power management ICs etc.
Experienced in delivering system solutions from concept to production including compliance and certification
Good communication skills, both written (technical writing) and verbal - must be a team player who can work with cross-
functional teams and customers across various time-zones and locations.
Essential Responsibilities include, but not limited to :
Be part of a team that defines and architects the next generation of IoT embedded systems to meet the market needs.
Create Whole Product Plan (WPP) collateral such as application notes, technical reference manuals (TRMs) and code examples on Real Time Operating System (RTOS).
Work with design, marketing and product definition teams to successfully launch new products into the market.
Provides technical guidance to aid the design and development of embedded consumer electronics devices using Cypress products.
Review customer designs and solve problems.
Work closely with IC design team and firmware team to develop production-worthy designs for IoT and consumer applications.
Customer support post and pre-sales, including in-situ support
Evaluate new applications in market segment to fit PSoC, IoT MCUs and perform competitor product teardowns
Train Cypress Sales & Marketing, and Customers on new products & solutions
Authors technical articles and white papers to show case Cypress products and technologies
Serve as mentor to other engineers.
