The Product Development Infrastructure (PDI) Tools Team’s mission is to provide the systems, infrastructure, and services required to fuel the growth of a rapidly expanding, industry leading Product Development organization whose mission critical networking products are globally deployed by many of the largest IT organizations today.

We are seeking an exceptionally sharp, results-driven, customer-focused Senior Manager who is looking for an opportunity to make a huge impact across the Product Development group at F5.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Inspire, lead, manage, and grow a high performing team chartered with the delivery of mission critical infrastructure and services that F5 engineers depend upon to develop industry-leading products.
  • Align, communicate, and plan infrastructure strategies and initiatives in partnership with Product Development leadership while simultaneously ensuring proper alignment to wider business and technical goals.
  • Collaborate with Product Development leadership to envision, establish, and deliver on a roadmap that enables the Product Development organization to accelerate delivery of F5 products and services.
  • Fully participate in the creation and execution of strategies for building, scaling and ensuring the availability, reliability, efficiency, and positive business impact of infrastructure investments ensuring that Product Development realizes maximum ROI from these investments.
  • Drive infrastructure life-cycle management via aggressive action in building infrastructure with the goal of realizing transformational improvements in automation, system capabilities, capacity, performance, deployment velocity, and quality of service.
  • Delivery, management, availability, reliability, and scalability of mission critical PDI services and overall quality of response to operational issues related to these services.
  • Performs other related duties as appropriate to the needs of the PDI and Product Development businesses.
  • Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, envisioning, and problem-solving skills with 7+ years of experience building and leading agile, high performing DevOps teams in the envisioning, planning, and delivery of software services involving exposure to the full software services lifecycle
  • 7+ years of technical achievement in a DevOps individual contributor role involving virtualization, web technologies, networking, storage, and process automation utilizing one or more of the following programming languages : C / C++, Java, Perl, Python, C#, JavaScript, or other scripting language.
  • Results-oriented with a mix of intelligence, integrity, broad technical knowledge, verbal agility, and diplomacy which engenders trust of engineers and technical professionals;
  • proven track record of influencing / driving technical direction / solutions with stakeholders from multiple, diverse teams

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written communication skills and the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a small, fast-
  • paced team environment where team members are required to multi-task across multiple domains

    Job Description

  • Experience collaborating effectively with a geo-located team utilizing the Scrum and / or Kanban methodologies.
  • BA / BS in Computer Science, or related Science / Engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table;
  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material;
  • Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane;
  • Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.
