Designation : Associate Project ManagerLocation :

  • Manage project comprising of teams distributed globally.
  • Implementing Connect transformation initiatives effectively, including driving agile / devops initiatives
  • Prepare estimations, project plans, schedule and allocate tasks. Track project activities to ensure quality delivery
  • Strengthen and deepen working relationships with business and senior IT stakeholders in the UK
  • Establish effective working relationships with the Vendor(s) and other areas of HSBC (e.g. Business / Procurement / Information Security & Risk, and Change Delivery etc.)
  • Connect will use strategic 3rd party vendor(s), and the role will involve liaison with vendor(s) to ensure full end to end system testing and delivery is effective
  • Principal Accountabilities (Key activities & decision making areas)

  • To identify project needs, approach and define the project strategy
  • Understand the business drivers and key improvements sought from the re-architecture, ensuring these are documented at start of project and used as a yard stick to evaluate design and build of the product
  • Ensure the design / final product meets the required performance criteria
  • Maintain tight budgetary control
  • Ensure legal and compliance alignment when dealing with Vendors
  • To understand Agile development methodologies and develop this approach plans / schedules during the sprints.
  • Prepare plans / schedule, for both functional and non-functional deliveries and ensure end to end testing activities while identifying and resolving all potential risks and issues
  • Co-ordinate with various teams (HSBC internal and vendor) that may be globally distributed.
  • Provide ownership and accountability for quality of design / fulfilment and testing and own a responsibility to ensure that all the required documentation is completed and the quality followed adheres to HSBC Group standards
  • Own and drive all project related activities against the schedule / budget and provide regular reporting of progress to stakeholders.
  • To escalate to senior management wherever necessary

  • Engage with senior stakeholders and to build effective relationships, trust and understanding through the management of testing and the related risks
  • Ensure no high risk, high priority defects are outstanding at the end of the testing cycles and all the defects raised are resolved and re-
  • tested effectively as per the test schedule

  • Ensure code controlled and deployed effectively to testing and production environments
  • Provide overall test activity completion sign off
  • Be a change agent for IT transformation
  • Qualifications

  • A University graduate with a degree in IT or a related discipline with at least 7-10 years' experience in general banking and / or IT development, operation or testing,
  • Experience of working on medium / large / Flagship ($3-10m+) IT projects which are of global nature.
  • Experience of Agile Software Development Methodology would be useful
  • Strong leadership and management qualities with the ability to motivate and lead by example. Ability to work across cultures.
  • Ability and experience of leading teams and pull them together to achieve common objectives
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and deliver within agreed service levels in a diverse and ever changing environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills with demonstrative evidence of ability to successfully co-
  • ordinate with various parties involved in testing and conflict management.

  • High levels of judgement and decision making, being able to rationalize and present the background and reasoning for direction taken
  • Excellent organization awareness
  • Knowledge and experience in risk management and risk mitigation
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of Connect or similar environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with 3rd party vendors would be an added advantage.
  • PMP certified
