Software Applications Engineer AAP Low Power Audio & Actuators

The Low Power Audio & Actuators product line is hiring an audio applications engineer to support its low power audio Smart Amp products.

The software application engineer’s role would primarily be of developing software drivers as part of new product releases, debugging customer driver code, developing support software applications on Android / Windows, EVM development (software and hardware), writing applications notes and developing training materials for customers.

In this role, the engineer is involved in solving customer problems (drivers, integration, system specific issues) and helps them take the device from design win to production.

There will be considerable interactions directly with customers, the TI field sales and applications team, and other functions within the product line (software, audio framework, algorithms, hardware applications and systems.) Travel requirements are >

2 international trips per quarter.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Embedded development and support of the integrated DSP architecture
  • 1.ALSA Linux driver development

    2.Creating Android applications and HAL layer development

    3.Supporting Qualcomm, HiSi and MTK platform for driver integration

    4.Upstreaming / maintaining GIT

  • Answering customer questions and supporting design-in activities for released products. This includes :
  • 1.Forum and email questions from customers

    2.Debug of customer problems by re-creating issues in our evaluation boards and / or customer boards, specifically on audio software and driver related issues

    3.On-site support for customers on SW integration, framework, driver code integration, audio playback as required

  • Familiarity with EVM and internal evaluation boards to support correlation and evaluation activities of new products to customers and field engineers
  • Development of SW user guides, test procedures , SW application notes, White papers
  • Participating in datasheet review to ensure completeness of datasheet being developed by the Systems Engineer
  • Participating in new silicon testing from an customer use-case and application perspective to ensure robustness of the product
  • Working with systems engineer to provide support to early design in activities for new products
  • Writing application notes that explain different use cases, implementation and / or flexibility of our products
  • Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with a minimum 5 years of applications support experience
  • Embedded systems knowledge
  • Linux and Android driver development experience
  • Experience maintaining Bitbucket and GIT
  • Fundamental analog hardware capabilities to support Class-D and Class-AB amplifiers
  • Ability to test and impact analog specs (THD, noise, etc.)
  • Experience in applications support of analog and mixed signal products

    Solid software debugging skills and familiarity with hardware

    Strong technical background, with the ability to produce high quality technical documentation

    Preferred Qualifications :

  • ALSA Linux audio driver knowledge
  • Qualcomm / MTK support experience
  • Knowledge about the electro-mechanical and thermal loudspeaker models is preferred.
  • Experience on tuning audio algorithms such as Dynamic Range Compressors and Equalizers is preferred.
  • Experience with Audio Precision measurement equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with audio recording / editing software is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Level Degree
