Job Description :
Symantec’s Cloud Platform Engineering group is responsible for the strategic architecture and deployment of our vast applications and infrastructure ecosystems that are at the core of Symantec’s Cloud offering.
As a Software Developer in Symantec’s Big Data team you will be involved in developing major components of next generation data platform in Symantec.
This new data platform which needs to handle multiple petabytes of data and a demanding processing rate is key to Symantec's continuous efforts to improve customer protection in the face of increasing threats.
You will be involved in the software development lifecycle from strategy, architecture, design, implementation, testing and release with a focus on delivering solutions against business goals, technical requirements and Symantec engineering standards.
Successful candidates for these openings have a strong passion for solving some distributed systems problems.
About You :
You are a super coder with deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.
You are strong at core computer science fundamentals.
You get motivated thinking about hard distributed system challenges.
You write clean and simple code. You love to code in Java, Scala or Python.
You have already contributed to and / or willing to contribute to open source projects.
You have a good understanding of big data services such as Hadoop, Hive, Storm, Kafka and Spark.
You have at least a B.S degree in computer science.
Knowledge of AWS Cloud technologies is a huge plus.
You will develop features for the Symantec's next generation Big Data Platform.
You will design and build tools to secure the platform and to make the platform more reliable.
You will fix bugs and add features to any of the open source projects that are used in the big data platform.
You will help with the deployment / performance tuning of security applications on the platform you build.
You will evaluate / implement new open source technologies as needed.
You will participate in the occasional on-call rotation supporting the big data architecture.
