A member of Middle Office who will be the senior credit expert for nominated Teams, working in support of Conquest, Business Development & high complexity deal structures.

acting as the conduit to Credit for sanctioning purposes.

This will involve :

  • Acting as a POD leader for designated POD under One Lending
  • The optimal structuring of new deals, which are practical and appropriate Lending structures / solutions
  • Thoroughly understanding customer needs & sensibly balancing reward and risk.
  • Working with a wide range of industry specialism’s and with the larger exposures (typically Financing Lines above GBP 10m), you will deliver high quality and consistent credit applications, making strong and robust recommendations.
  • acting as a dedicated source of knowledge
  • driving, managing and concluding Conquest deals, working closely with Sales & MO colleagues, advisors and customers alike.
  • Monitoring and controlling those Conquest deals for a short period after transaction (known as the on-boarding period ), including the close management of Conditions Precedent / Subsequent.
  • Driving the data integrity of credit systems & financial information systems.
  • Preparation of high quality Lending Submission Forms to enable accurate production of Facility Letters and other Post Sanction Fulfilment.
  • Actively participate and lead change projects working along with leadership
  • Your Role

    o Credit and Transactional Risk Management - 70%

  • Assess a customer’s business and / or transaction structure through the analysis of business, transactional, market and credit risks associated with the provision of the Bank’s products and services to the customer.
  • Provision of information on a customer’s business via research, using various sources e.g. trade journals / brokers reports / Internet / Bloomberg and rating agencies.
  • Deliver professional advice on risk management matters, industry and product sets, competitor activity and the timely involvement of external specialists.

  • Develop highly thought out, top quality credit analysis and solutions, with the view to obtaining credit approval from Credit Sanctioners / Credit Committees
  • Be a point of contact for credit management purposes for customers, accountants, solicitors and other professionals.
  • The preparation of credit proposals for recommendation and presentation directly to the Sanctioner and / or Committee on behalf of the Relationship Point.
  • Creation / verification of customer grading and severity, ensuring the optimal use of financial modelling and grading tools.
  • Responsible for the first class analysis of financial information produced by customers.
  • Responsible for the full & accurate delivery of Post sanction documentation. Typically, this will be outsourced documentation, therefore includes you managing this process closely with external Agents.
  • Responsible for portfolio managing your clients / deals for the first 3 months following a transaction ( on-boarding period ), undertaking all monitoring activities, fit to lend oversight, post transaction issues, before formally handing-
  • off to Credit Manager colleagues.

    o Business Risk Partnership - 20%

  • Work very closely in partnership with Relationship Points on new credit applications, providing preliminary guidance on credit appetite and consulting with credit specialists under own initiative, to shape bespoke customer / risk solutions.
  • First class delivery of service in line with agreed service level agreements / customer set deadlines
  • Work in partnership with specialist / sales team colleagues and proactively anticipate, respond to and seek to exceed the expectations of customers.
  • Drive the debate on risk / reward to ensure a commercial balance between risk and reward.
  • Attend site visits / customer meetings as required.
  • Proactively contribute to change management initiatives in support of process and quality improvements, cost reductions and development of colleagues within MO.
  • Support the Business by operating within cost budgets, using initiative to working smarter
  • o Team Working - 10%

  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with specialist / sales team colleagues, credit sanctioners, MO colleagues and MO Leadership
  • Support the Head of Risk Control Unit in identifying training and development needs of the team and assisting / driving support as appropriate.
  • As a senior member of MO, to undertake and complete ad hoc projects as and when required, under your own drive and initiative.
  • Risk and Control : All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
  • Essential Skills

  • Preferably CA or CFA or FRM or MBA (any discipline)
  • Prior experience in corporate credit analysis in a global bank.
  • Strong Financial Statement Analysis skills
  • Deep understanding of Corporate Lending products, Opportunity Assessment and Deal Structuring
  • Strong communication skills
  • Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Awareness of legislation affecting the Bank and customers (including the Data Protection Act, Companies Act, Insolvency Act, Financial Services Act, Money Laundering and confidentiality regulations, Sarbanes Oxley and Basel).
