Role Summary :

Working with domain leaders as Product Owner to create clear strategic direction to be delivered by the product development team.

Direct the team with clear set of requirements and deliver embedded product features / functions balancing customer need with business strategy, minimized defects and technical debt.

Seamless integration and alignment of perspectives from stakeholders including Customers, Process Owners, Enterprise Architects, Development teams and Technical Architects.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Work with cross-functional (process, design, build, test) teams to deliver features and products for embedded systems / soluitons
  • Own the short-term product roadmap and it’s integration into a larger application or strategic roadmap
  • Engage continuously with customers and stakeholders to understand their business goals and motivating factors
  • Demonstrate ability to influence customers and product managers through credible knowledge and experience, persuasion and influencing skills
  • Lead customer and stakeholder interviews to align product design with roles (personas)
  • Own the product backlog; continuously groom and ensure that an agreed scope is always ready to move into development
  • Lead the product development team; facilitate discussions, provide clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing and validation;
  • owner of functional or technical product design

  • Understand and follow the proscribed governance process and development methodology for product development
  • Translate unstructured or ambiguous requests into actionable user stories and work units through problem decomposition and planning
  • Demonstrate substantial experience with the technology stack and its impact on the final product
  • Define and manage Interfaces to all subsystem in compliance to the system solution. Responsible for developing ICDs, FMEAs, DFSS / DFR Scorecard and other input documents as required.
  • Work with Principal Engineers / SMEs to generate and execute design review matrix and reviews
  • Define / approve System Validation Plans, drive end to end System Validation Testing, and work with Test Engineers to ensure traceability to verifications cross reference matrices
  • Qualifications / Requirements :

  • Bachelor's / Master's / PhD in Electronics / Electrical, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science Engineering or in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Minimum of 6 years of technical experience along with established technical leadership credentials across product lines.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands- on design and implementation experience involving Engineering Systems, Embedded Systems, Hardware, Software and / or Electrical design
  • Desired Characteristics :

    Technical Expertise :

  • In-depth technical expertise in underlying design and architecture for embedded systems, Ethernet, TCP / IP, and Short range / Long range wireless communication technology (WiFi, CDMA / GSM, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and maintain creative solutions to complex software, engineering toolchain and application problems.
  • Trained and experienced in the usage of Agile Methodologies. Familiarity with waterfall software implementation approaches
  • Demonstrated willingness to adapt, change and learn new skills, competencies and approaches quickly and with an open mind.
  • Experience with DOORs / COnfluence Requirements Management Tools, ClearQuest and Rally.
  • Experience with System Testing Processes, Tools, and Automation
  • Hands-on capability to handle test equipment and tools (DOORS, scripting languages (Perl, Visual Basic, and DOS), and Excel data manipulation aspects (Condensing large amounts of information))
  • Embedded programming and / or experience with real time operating systems (QNX / Linux).
  • Strong Business Analysis skills and ability to translate requirements to software features
  • Experience leading teams in a formal software development lifecycle environment which is following a formal project management and governance process
  • Familiarity with iterative software implementation approaches (Agile, XP, DSDM, Lean and FDD)
  • Experience in areas such as caching, APIs, data transfer, scalability, and security
  • Expert proficiency in tools supporting SDLC such as Jira, Rally, Aris, MS Project, SmartSheet, LoadRunner, etc.

  • Skilled in breaking down problems and estimating efforts
  • Has the ability to propose, analyze impact and recommend appropriate technology choices
  • Skilled in negotiation to align stakeholders and communicate a single synthesized perspective to the product development team.

  • Demonstrates awareness of the competitive environment and it’s impact on the product
  • Demonstrates knowledge of technologies in the market to actively participate in buy vs build recommendations, drive market timing decisions and scope of MVPs
