Thermo Fisher Scientific is recruiting a Scientist who can foster innovation and antibody development using cutting edge molecular cloning technologies in a high-
throughput environment. The recruit must have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems in which initiative and judgment are required;
the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail; the ability to organize and present data, the ability to work in a collaborative team environment and to communicate effectively both within the immediate group and across groups
Applicants should have a Masters with 5 + years’ experience or a PhD in the area of biochemistry or biophysics integrated with cell biology, molecular biology, immunology or related fields.
Experience in various recombinant protein purification methodologies is a must.
GLP, GMP or any other certification in laboratory practices and EHS certification will be considered as a bonus
Analysis of protein structures (full length or truncated) and modifications in the context of solubility and purification
Solubility analysis, sound understanding of primary, secondary and tertiary protein structures
Antigen production using various recombinant protein expression methodologies and bacterial, insect or mammalian cell culture systems
Selecting appropriate vector, expression systems and purification conditions based on primary literature
Select appropriate expression vectors and tags for complex proteins (membrane, toxic proteins etc)
Protein purification using multiple purification methodologies (affinity, IEC, SEC etc.)
Troubleshooting expression failures on a routine basis and exploring alternate systems to enhance expression and yield
Keeping abreast with advancements and next-gen technologies in the protein purification field
Be able to work in a high-throughput environment and multitask in order to deliver multiple proteins simultaneously
Antibody-antigen affinity analysis using SPR, Biacore, and Octet etc. would be a bonus
Responsible for data integrity and accuracy
Organizing data reviews and team meetings
Other functions such as writing technical protocols and filling out order forms
Maintaining inventory of the various raw materials, cDNA constructs and final protein products
Deliver high quality results according to project schedule in support of product commercialization during early feasibility, development and validation phases
Presenting at national and international conferences
Understanding of protein structures and modifications
Well-versed in solubility analysis, primary, secondary and tertiary protein structure databases, software and analytics
Have extensive experience protein purification and biophysical methods. Experience of working in a high throughput environment is a bonus
In depth knowledge of protein expression systems, vectors, tags, chromatography techniques
Well-versed with recombinant protein expression and purification methodologies using bacterial, insect and mammalian expression systems
Have experience in a high-throughput environment and should have demonstrated multi-tasking abilities for routine purification of proteins at a high scale.
Experience in antibody-antigen affinity analysis using Biacore, Octet etc.
Well-versed in Structure-function analysis using site-directed mutagenesis or other strategies
Should have experience in preparation of competent cells (for use in chemical or electroporation based transformation)
GLP experience, documentation and automation
Publications in peer-reviewed journals would be a bonus.
Good understanding of research projects using standard techniques and protocols
Should be a good team player, ready to learn new techniques and innovative thinker
Industry experience, bioinformatics and grant writing skills will be considered as a bonus
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
