This position will lead transformative data and information related programs across Research & Development. The position will be responsible for driving the planning and execution of the strategic vision supporting the Research & Development business in alignment with adherence to the long-

term data and information strategy of the Chief Digital Office organization

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to :

  • Lead the charge in developing the vision for Data42 and ensuring dissemination and propagation of this vision across Novartis
  • Driving the planning and execution of the strategic vision for Data42. Accountable for the implementation of one of the most complex, high impact, cross-
  • sector, cross-functional, critical programs / initiatives of the industry, which drive quality, efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Lead the data42 across R&D with high expectations of availability and reliability of technology (infrastructure and applications), responsiveness and knowledge of the team, pace and urgency, as well as intense awareness of the effectiveness of different data, analytics and technology solutions, implementing metrics for performance
  • Owns the data42 delivery plan and budget to ensure milestones are met and are within budget; reviews and confirms plans and budgets;
  • Justifies and secures the resources necessary to successfully implement the data42 delivery plan (people, financial, technical, ways of working etc.

    Makes key decisions and milestones on the data42 program level. Assesses the status of milestones and tasks, and advises executive management on matters of potential conflicts or problems with the program

  • Ensure consistent delivery and development of services and systems to support the customers and business needs
  • Lead with excellent leadership & communication skills, and evidenced by a track record of hiring, retaining, developing and motivating top-
  • tier talent and breaking down organizational boundaries through collaboration and cross-staffing across internal groups, building strong relationships based on trust with all levels of employees.

    Work effectively with senior executive stakeholders, including DCN, NIBR LT, ECN and Board of Novartis. In addition, represent Novartis to the outside, including external media

    Minimum requirements

    What you’ll bring to the role :

  • Degree required (e.g. MBA / PhD / MS / BTech)
  • At least 15 years’ senior-level experience in drug development or information technology
  • Demonstrated leadership in a global, cross-functional setting, in deploying large-scale data and / or other strategic technology initiatives in a large company setting
  • Strategic thinking experience, and strong tolerance for ambiguity, willingness to adapt, willing to speak-up and challenge
  • Strong results-driven leadership style and strong relationship-building skills; can influence, negotiate with and motivate executive leadership
